Maybe all this criticism will finally light a fire under Bortles and the whole team for once...it took them about three years to finally listen.

Quote:I'm not the one questioning the play call.  I also pointed out that Bortles admitted to telegraphing the pass on that play, and took the blame for the mistake.  So, I'm not quite sure what your point is here about me being disingenuous.

The entire premise of this thread is based on more than one play.  It focuses on the play calling in general, and how the fans think they know more than the guys who created the playbook and who execute it.  They don't.

Aren't you one of those fans? If I misunderstood your posts then I apologize in advance, but from what I've read you have been very critical of the Jags for all but abandoning the run in the second half (about which I agree). One does not need a playbook and/or a PhD in NFL offense to see that the running game was successful yet rarely called once the Jags were behind.

I can't speak on the actual playcalling. Blake is absolutely right. But is anybody else sick of all the bubble screens and short routes?

Every defense that plays us enjoys our offense. I bet they film study with beer pizza and popcorn. The league is not sick of it.

Yes, I am sick of short passes and bubble screens.

Haven't read 14 pages of, i'm sure, whining, but Blake is right.  It's been the coordinators fault around here for a decade no matter who is in the job.  Players not plays. Execution. We didn't execute and out players didn't show up.  End of story.  And you can slam me for this: I supported both Koetter and Fisch.  Flame away.  Some things never change around here.

Koetter, the guy that imploded the Falcon's offense last year?  LOL!  That horrilbe OC is now the OC at Tampa...  I don't see that working out well for old Craby Legs...

Some on here wanted to keep him around, because you know...  Players not plays...  Well, guess what.  Coaches matter.  Koetter is a great example of that...

Players do need to execute.  It would also be nice to see coaches develop some of our players and maybe even, you know, come up with a game plan that works and adjustments that help us close out the 2nd half?

See, it's both.  I don't know why so many people have a hard time with this.  It's like you've been brainwashed by some stupid thing some old dude told you 10 years ago, and you cannot deprogram yourself.

I think the players vs plays thing from Vic is relevant when the team is competent.  When your rebuilding development is everything and teaching coaches are important.

I look at the Niners before Harbaugh got there. They had Gore, Vernon Davis, Joe Staley, Justin Smith, Patrick Willis and weren't that good.

That's another concern that is becoming a nagging thought in my mind... when you see players regress from one year to the next, you gotta wonder if the coaches are not successful at developing young talent the way you would like.

Now, I understand it's only one game of the 3rd year. I get that. I'm just saying it's something to keep an eye on for the remainder of the season.

I really hope we can get the win tomorrow to shut us all up.

If it were really players not plays, coaches wouldn't make millions of dollars. It's a combination of both. Unfortunately we have lacked both for damn near a decade.
One of these years.............

Vic's "players vs. plays" is silly. If it were just "players" teams wouldn't have a playbook, they'd just run the same play over and over.

Quote:I too agree w/BB5's sentiment, we as fans result to premature observations. Yes we should perform better but we must realize that Professionals are being  paid on this level. Not We The Fans.

Do we need to improve... Hell Yeah we do... Will we improve?

Hell Yeaf we will...

Yep and it matches the low single digit win totals of the Jaguars for these past 3 or 4 years now doesn't it?

The Colts basically did that under Manning...

So did Dungy's Bucs and Lovie's Bears with their cover 2...

And the Seahawks now with their cover 3 press...
