Poll: Which Team Will Win The First NFL Regular Season Game On Thursday Night Football?
Carolina Panthers
Denver Broncos
[Show Results]

***Official Panthers @ Broncos***

Quote:Malik shoutout!

Did you see him at the stadium?

Quote:Cams "only" took 3 shots to the head with no penalties called. Probably concussed.

So you were expecting the Broncos defense to hit  Cam Newton's head on every drive? Or just more punishment for the fouls?

No, they were talking him being on the Jaguars now.

Quote:What do you expect a first-time starter to do? Probably stare down receivers. We are talking about a seventh round QB who has never attempted a pass in the NFL. But the fact that he won the starting job in just three preseason games tells us there is a lot of potential in #13. Coaches are not expecting him to be more than a game manager this season.

Trevor Siemian did throw a pick 6 in preseason. However, one reason he won the starting job was he committed fewer turnovers than Mark Sanchez. In the big picture, he had better ball security.

I don't know where you got the name Bebe Thomas from. His first name is Demariyus.

Denver will miss Danny Trevathan. I hope "the Davis guy" is good but expect that position to be a downgrade.

Sooo in short I was right Smile

Everyone I know here(Colorado) calls Demariyus Thomas Bebe Thomas. Think it even goes back to Georgia Tech.

He looks pretty good. But looks super nervous out there. He needed to settle down and relax.

Maybe I am alone in my thinking, but any QB that plays like Newton deserves all of the physical punishment he gets.

CN is the biggest DB on the planet.  I couldn't help but smile every time he got hit last night.

To me, it has nothing to do with his personality, just his style of play. You have to do what you need to do to contain him. If you have a QB running all over the field, holding on to the ball trying to extend plays, and also blocking for RB's, he deserves all the punishing hits.

Also, some people were complaining about the hit to the back of Benjamin's knees last night. Nobody was trying to intentionally injure him. They were trying to bring a 6'5", 250lb WR to the ground.

To /be expected of a player who had nothing more than kneel down before that game.

If I was playing on defense against Cam, then you can guarantee anytime I had a chance to lay a hard hit(legally on the play) on him I would. Just to get it in his head, maybe a split second of hesitation on the next run.

They don't need to be hurting Benjamin. He's on my FF team!

Quote:He should have been checked for a concussion.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...concussion

Ian Rapoport got this statement from the NFL about that:

"There was communication between medical personnel on the Carolina sideline, including the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant, and the two independent certified athletic trainer spotters in the booth. During stoppage in play while on-field officials were in the process of administrating penalties, the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant and team physician requested video from the spotters and reviewed the play. They concluded there were no indications of a concussion that would require further evaluation and the removal of the player."

Why do you say that? Sure it's hyperbole, but other than walking out on a post-Super Bowl press conference, what has he done to make you say it?

There are a lot worse humans playing in the NFL that don't contribute to their community or spend the time with kids or visit the hospitals or any of the things Cam does.

I promise you, you don't know Cam Newton.

It's called being a hater. Every NFL fan loves to hate somebody.

Each of the 4 times Cam was hit in the head last night he was in the pocket. Please explain to me why he deserves those illegal hits because of "his style of play".

While I respect Cam as a QB, I am far from his biggest fan.

That being said, he did nothing to "deserve" the shots he took, and there was no reason for a few of them not being flagged.

The NFL baffles me at times.  They pretend to care, even reach settlements, they've put skirts on the QBs and gone out of their way to protect defenseless ball carriers, yet they let Cam get rocked last night.

I struggle to find consistency there.

Sure, it may get talked about in meeting rooms with officials and promises made to have such things "cleaned up"... but that doesn't change what Cam had to go through.  Those are also the kinds officiating decisions that can change outcomes of games.

He doesn't .That comment was ironic considering where he was hit in the head. Actually T.J. Ward said Cam Newton deserves punishment, not illegal hits to the head.

They care. Officials checked on Newton when he was slow to get up. Every week there are big non-calls that obviously should have been flagged, but is part of the game. The NFL would not have made up more player safety rules if it did not care about it. Luckily for Newton, he was not concussed and able to finish the game.

I just saw 3 of the hits from last nights game and can't believe flags weren't thrown. I'm not even a Newton fan and I feel bad for the guy.

I understand if he runs down the field and gets hit helmet to helmet but these were in the pocket or right after he threw the ball.
