Quote:Any chance he's challenging Jonathan Wells for his roster spot?

I kind of hope Wells wins this one because he's so much younger, but may the better player win.

At this point I think some of the spectators in the stands are challenging Wells for his spot.

My performers of the night go to....

Fowler - He is on another planet right now. And I hope he never comes back. He has all the tools to be the best defensive player in Jags history. Brackens had 55 sacks in his tenure here. Fowler could rack up 55 sacks in 5 seasons...he is that good.

Joeckel - remember when Benny the Jet Rodriguez told smalls to hold his glove out in the air and he would take care of the rest? And then when smalls caught it, all the guys was like....alright...let's play some ball. Well Luke showed up in a big way tonight. He is an awesome LG.

Thomas - He gets separation with ease. He runs light footed for a big guy. With hands soft as cotton he just absorbs the football like a pro.

Linder - it's nice to see him plug in and play like he did. Glad to have him back on that offensive line.

Arob - He is playing angry. Like he wants to be the best in the NFL. He takes what he wants.

Amukamura - He pretty much didn't allow anything his way. He doesn't play like he came here to retire. He is playing like he wants to start. He is going to be a great stop gap this year.

Bortles - threw the ball with ease. He can make all the throws. He looks like a QB who is ready to take the next step in his professional career.

Ramsey broke through the line and pretty much looked like I expected.

Our LBs have so much speed.

Ficken boomed the ball. And we officially have a kicking battle.

Odrick collapsed the line a few times on running plays. His height is nice to have bc he can see what's going on in the backfield and then read and react. He played decent.

Yannick displayed quickness and good lean.

That's pretty much it for me.

Who are yours?

I honestly didn't watch him at all for some reason.

Glad to hear he played good though.

He seemed to be around the ball quite a bit. He had decent coverage on the touchdown to JT.

I have no idea. I've never even heard of Linkenbach until tonight. Whoever went against Yannick won rather easily though. He looked fast and had good lean, but that didn't do him any good. I'll say this, I think Linkenbach is better at LT than Joekel.  Smile

I know Linder and Beachum were out but this oline scares me...

just got back a few minutes ago.

Impressions:

Our offensive line looks absolutely horrible.

Fowler looks fast and disruptive.  Even when he wasn't making the play, he was always close and always around Bortles.  He's by far our best defender.

Ngakoue isn't even on the same planet as Fowler.  He didn't show any of the quickness or power that Fowler did.  Yannick looked like just another guy out there.

Cup was beaten by Thomas for a touchdown - so nothing new there, he is still a liability when in coverage.

Allen Hurns was targeted 3 times (as far as I can remember) and had 2 drops.  Poor outing.

The new club seats are nice but I'm not sure I like how they "look" in the stadium.  I fear many of the club seat people will be inside in the air conditioning and those gray seats will be even a bigger eyesore than the old teal ones.  Just my 2c.

My concern is with the slow start of the offense--just like last year. Bortles only completes 1- 5 of his first passes.

I'd like to see more short passes to Yeldon and Walters.

I believe the very first pass was a screen.

Fowler was in his face instantly the rest of the time.  Offensive line sucks.

This offensive line is BAD. And I mean I'll be shocked if Bortles doesn't miss a game this season kind of awful.

I know the line is bad, but Bortles needs to find a way to improvise. Screen passes to Yeldon, or short passes to Walters. Anything to move the chains.

Well Beachum and Linder did not play. And Joekel is still learning LG. And it is 1 week into training camp. Maybe we should give it a little longer before we put Bortles on IR for the year.

You don't think Bortles improvised his butt off last season? We should be protecting our most prized possession...

I hope they gel and Beachum/Linder will solidify the O-line.
