Quote:First off, it's not discrimination to disagree with someone lifestyle because of a difference of religious beliefs.

Race and alternative lifestyles are two totally different issues at the opposite ends of the spectrum. One is something you are born with, the other is a choice. Is it fair to not bake a cake for someone who is black and have no control or choice at birth vs someone who chose to life a lifestyle that suits them since birth that conflicts with someone's beliefs?

This may blow your mind, but there are some black people who are liberal who disagree with that lifestyle because it doesn't fit their preference.

This issue runs deeper for me because of religious reasons so yes I'm giving you the "excuse", or "line" to refrain from discussing that aspect of my viewpoints.

Being gay is no more of a choice than me being straight.

Or, being gay is no more of a choice than is being black.

Quick question; has society collapsed yet? It's tough to tell when you are an entire ocean away.

You won't hear about it from the Liberal Media, but society has totally collapsed.  Fire and Brimstone coming down from the skies!  Rivers and seas boiling!  Forty years of Darkness!  Earthquakes, Volcanoes, the dead rising from the grave!  Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I mean, the Photoshopping in that picture is so atrociously bad that the end times have to be near, right?

One of the best comedic scenes ever!  RIP Egon!

Right there with you, my man...  This along with the new Star Wars coming in December is all I got left of my childhood movie innocence.

Very nice rant, as well.

New movies cannot in anyway ruin the childhood experience of the OG's. Not transformers, not TMNT. That said, I'm less skeptical about Star Wars than I am for Ghostbusters. I don't like McCarthy much but I hear she was pretty good in Spy.

I'm terrified for Star Wars. As much as Abrams was praised for his Star Trek reboot, I thought the first film basically spent its whole running time taking a whiz on the characters and stories that had been built upon for over 40 years. The second one was just awful, easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen, but take that with the caveat that I think "Wrath of Khan" is a top-three sci-fi movie.

I doubt he'll trash Star Wars the way he did Trek, partly because he has Disney breathing down his neck and (presumably) keeping him from, you know, reversing the fate of Alderaan through a time paradox or some garbage like that, but I remain worried by his "reverence" for the Star Trek source material and am mildly concerned that he might do something(s) stupid with Ep. 7.

Actually i thought that the general idea of the time warp was a cool way to give some creative license to alter parts of the storyline. It was just done horribly.

And ur right. The second was horrendous. All the pomp and circumstance of kirk becoming captain and u reverse it in the first reel? Really?

"It was just done horribly."

Yeah, pretty much. You can make subtle changes to the story to make it your own. You don't have to defy logic and reason by blowing up the second-most important planet in Star Trek history, or by having (for example) Kirk go from seconds away from expulsion from the Academy to first officer within a matter of in-universe hours. Never mind that there were 400+ officers on the ship including Spock, no, let's just give the job to a cadet who would have been escorted out of the building in disgrace if Nero had waited five more minutes to launch his attack. Then let's find some convoluted way for Spock to essentially sentence him to death on an ice planet, find an even more convoluted way for old Spock and Scotty to magically be there and get him back on to the Enterprise because...well...because destiny. Finally, let's have Kirk make Spock so angry that he loses control and abdicates the chair, then let's casually remind everyone that the guy was who ten seconds from being kicked out of Starfleet then jettisoned into space for mutiny was actually named first officer by the old captain before he was kidnapped. And somehow the mutiny charge didn't overrule that. And none of the 400+ officers on board seem to mind that the flagship of the fleet is now in the hands of a cadet with zero command experience. Because plot. They made Kirk from a brilliant tactician and charismatic leader into a frat boy, then handed him the keys to a spaceship.

But I digress. That's just one of many, many problems with the film. You should see what I have to say about Into Darkness lol.

The first Trek reboot was no Wrath of Khan but it was fun. As a long time Trek fan I was very satisfied with it and truly don't get the hate.

The second was bad.

I think that's part of the problem with new movies.  In new movies you don't have those epic scenes that you quote for the rest of your life like the one above about rivers and seas or Kirk yelling into the communicator "KAAAAHHHHHHHHHN!"  So sad.

No, now you get Spock screaming at...no one.
