I hate this logic. Like if you know you're firing him anyways the question in my mind shouldn't be why now? It should be why not now? I mean the benefits are that if say the interim takes over and does amazing, you got to try a new person at the helm and maybe keep them. You also send a message to other coaches and players that the team isn't messing around anymore, perform or you're gone. What's the benefits to keeping him?

I think historically interim coaches never pan out longterm.

Did you just watch this game? (it's a retorical question)

The Jags aren't going to fire every player...so a message needs to be made to the players that will be here for 1, 2..5 more years.

I'm not use to watching bad football, and I've been watching football since 1978.   A statement needs to be made to everyone in Shad's organization that bad football will no longer be tolerated.   They need to figure out who is going to run the organization moving forward so that person can think about THE UPCOMING DRAFT and the types of players the Jags should be looking at now.

The Jags are the worst team in the league AGAIN.   This has got to stop.

I wonder what part of this 46 point loss we'll all be too stupid to understand this week.

I'm never going to listen to another Doug Pederson interview.

Thanks for the playoff memories Doug. Bye.

Why is he still talking?

I fully expect an open letter to Jags fans and media tomorrow between 10am and noon announcing terminations and interim positions.

I didn't even watch today.
Got out and enjoyed the beautiful Jacksonville Fall weather instead.

Much better use of my Sunday afternoon.

I don't care one way or the other but it doesn't matter which direction they go. Unless there is someone on the staff they think has longterm potential (which i hope they dont), then yes that would make sense but otherwise it doesn't matter.

Remember when we had mel tucker finish the season for del Rio and then we hired malarkey? Or when we had Bevell finish for Meyer and then brought in pederson? Did it matter in the slightest we didn't let del Rio and Meyer finish the season? No. Or what about when they gave marrone the chance to finish for Bradley and then we kept marrone? Probably made us worse off cuz marrone didn't work out either.

It's similar to those stories at the end of each losing season where we talk about finishing strong to carry into next year. It's always silly of course because it doesn't carry over. It never does.

The last 6 games of this year are completely meaningless. The only thing that could have any impact is if a player we will count on next year suffers a major injury that will limit their practice time with whichever coaching staff we bring in this offseason.

Again I don't care what they do. Today or after last game of the season. I'm just saying it will make zero difference. It just doesn't matter at all other then making fans feel good.

Someone posited on whether Ryan Nielsen would ever work as a DC again. The same goes for Doug as HC. He's set a definite pattern of capturing lightning in a bottle for the first two or three season and then faceplanting. He'll end up as an OC somewhere with the agreement that his boy Press can't come along.

Doug is washed.  He's gonna take his lucky SB ring and ride off to the sunset.

As for Press Taylor...   I'm sure he'll become a Nathaniel Hackett for some idiot owner that has no idea what an OC should be.

I know it is players making dumb mistakes and failing to execute assignments that is losing most of these games, but he has to figure out a way to alter that -  these last 16 games or so have been mostly excruciating to watch.

And for the life of me I can't figure out why he doesn't like Trevor Lawrence, but this man does not like Trevor Lawrence, LOL

Couldn’t agree more.
And we can’t draft Sanders. You know it would be an Eli Manning situation.

It’s the worst loss in franchise history by far. This team is as untalented as an expansion team. Needs a full reset and roughly 40 new players for the roster. Anyone who feels otherwise is looking at this with teal glasses on. A top 10 worst nfl team all time.

Well, for what its worth, I do think a fresh reset minus Trevor can get us right back to winning football next season, with the right leadership. Teams doing complete resets shoot from bottom to top every season (example the Commanders this year, Texans last year, Jags the previous year, etc etc). It just takes the right leadership.

Why would we draft Sanders?

Naw, we just need to get a GM that has a right idea of how to build a team.  If we get the #1 pick, you have to trade it for multiple other picks.  Then go heavy on O-Line and Secondary.

Its the same roster as last year that won 9 games and most were here when we made the playoffs and a playoff win the year before.   Take away Jenkins, Williams, and Ridley.  Add Savage, Darby, Armstead, BTJ, and upgrade the C and LG spots.  Also an improved Strange, Bigsby, and a healthy Miller.  Not buying it. This team is much more talented than what we have seen.

Next year the new GM and HC will prove this statement wrong.
