Are there any surpise cuts this year?
|
To be a 'surprise cut' the player must have a salary that is over their relative performance and would impact the team's salary cap. We have a very flexible salary cap and no players worth extending that will take up big money.
Secondly, a 'surprise cut' player must be in a group that really has a lot of talent and has young players that may step up now. Positional groups that meet both criteria for the 2015 Jaguars: none. Nonetheless, DE, RB, OG, TE, WR are groups with tons of promise with young players. Veterans like Clemons (he won't retire here), Beadles, Lewis, Gerhart, and Sanders shouldn't be buying any real estate in the area. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:LB core is thin. Poz is safe. Mercedes safe. Gratz safe. Not sure there will be any surprises. There's no risk in keeping Clemons. He's gonna get you 8 sacks. Anyone else think anyone else is gonna get 8? Marks?

surprise cuts: this will be the first year a guy that we drafted gets cut and not claimed again.

Clay Harbor seems to get no respect. I thought he did a great job last year.

He is a nice 3rd TE but is easily replaceable imo. Quote:He also had some drive crushing drops and struggled to get open consistently over the middle. Lewis is the one that has shown considerable inconsistency over the years. Quote:He also had some drive crushing drops and struggled to get open consistently over the middle. If you are limiting yourself to the sources where 3rd TEs usually come from, such as low draft picks, UDFAs, and other teams practice squads, he would be pretty tough to replace.
Alualu or Hood? Josh Evans? Clay Harbor? Henne? Bernard Pierce? Gratz? Beadles?

Quote:Alualu or Hood? Josh Evans? Clay Harbor? Henne? Bernard Pierce? Gratz? Beadles? Alualu? - No. He's valuable depth and rotation at three positions according to Wash. Most notable he's the best spell guy for Odrick. Hood? - No. He is at least valuable until Marks is 100%. After that -- maybe, since Bennett is in the fold now. Evans? Maybe - but he's probably decent depth at SS. Time will tell on that one. Harbor? Possible. Pierce? Very possible. Gratz? Unlikely unless Cambpell or Harris step it up. He's good depth at DB. Beadles? Unlikely unless they hate his salary and he's beat out by Cann for the starting role. |
