More Police Killed a Year Than Black Men By White Cops

May i suggest...You may want to read again in regard who brought up the lib thing first.

What happened in the past DOES matter. It causes skepticism. Trust. Questions.

You know...those who don't learn from the past...

Just have learned to double check once history has repeated itself.

I understand all of that. But that doesn't prove the numbers are wrong. You can throw out what may have happened or not in the past, that doesn't prove or disprove what was shown.

So about the actual article linked, I'd be curious to know if those are the numbers of officers that have just died while on duty, or where killed on duty, or just died while they where employed as officers? If that number represent officers that where killed on duty that's a very daunting fact that really brings perspective to light.

None of these numbers are acceptable.  Not the number of police killed (though many of those are traffic related fatalities) , not the number of people killed by police.

As long as the media has a controlling interest in what we read, watch and listen to, we're only going to see the nagative because the negative gets ratings..

It looks like died on duty based on the website linked. One of the officers listed for this year died of a heart attack while exercising in the police gym. A majority of the officers listed are due to automobile accidents.

Which is what I figured but the way it's presented it's almost as if the assumption is supposed to be these officers have been killed on duty (presumable by someone).

All of these officers died while working, but only (about) half were murdered. The others were in accidents. Some accidents, however, were negligently caused... likely by a DUI.

Even half is still a daunting number

The number of death's of officers is just as appalling to me as the number of death's of criminals/suspects/

Quote:Is this a "fact"

Al Sharpton and the other race baiters have done everything they can to persuade the public into thinking police hunt and kill black men in mass number.
How does one substantiate that sentence to satisfy you?  Does Al Sharpton show up at every opportunity to fan the flames of anger before all the facts are known?  Do others of his ilk do the same thing?  My personal observation is that yes he and others that profit from exacerbating the race issue do just that.  What is your take?

That both sides have their disgusting race baiters like Sharpton. That would be my response. It makes them lots of money because the bases eat it up.

Can we dissect that statement please?

For perspective and I won't do this question justice I am sure but I have to ask.

Can you imagine the situations honest hard working police officers find them selves in just doing their job?  Can you imagine walking up to a known crack house to deliver a warrant?  Can you imagine walking up on a routine traffic stop a week after a fellow police officer was shot and killed doing the same thing?  Can you imagine responding to a traffic accident and seeing a child decapitated?  Can you imagine what these men and women go through on a day to day basis?  I personally cannot.  They perform a job that I could not do, and one that I would never want to do.  Imagine all of that stress and emotion these representatives of the thin blue line must have bottled up on every single encounter they step into.

Now let's compare that with someone who breaks the law.  A criminal who robs at gunpoint an innocent hard working cashier at a gas station.  A drug dealer selling crack to a 14 year old child.  A drunk driver seeing flashing lights in their rear view window for the 3rd time in 6 months.  A rapist getting caught in the act with knife at a victims throat.

I do not know how you can put that two in the same category.  I do not condone the killing of criminals unless absolutely necessary however I certainly understand how mistakes are made.  The solution to prevent that from happening is on those who commit crimes to just stop.

Presenting facts is one thing. Analyzing facts objectively should be the goal, which sometimes appears to be the issue...

Really? Could you share an example of a Sharpton on the right?

I think to answer your question, you need to first define race baiting...

It's very easy. It's been made very clear to me that some people do not value all people's lives, only some. I am not one of those people. There are people that, regardless of the situation, assume the the criminal just should have died because criminal. You see it every time a new situation pops on in the media. I value all lives and that offends people apparently.

There are incidents and situations when killings are necessary such as recently in Garland, TX. But then there was also the kid with the toy gun that got killed among others.  The fact that more of the criminals death's were justified and perhaps even necessary is irrelevant to me because it's the ones that weren't I am talking about. It's appalling to me that in a modern society it still happens where innocent people are killed whether suspect/criminals or cops.

But the race-baiting coverage resembles the strategy of stoking racial fears employed by Fox News CEO Roger Ailes during his political consulting days. While working as a media consultant for high-profile Republican campaigns - including Richard Nixon -- Ailes exploited racial fears and biases for political gain, a method now known as the "Southern Strategy." It's a pattern he's continued to employ year after year at the helm of Fox News.
