for the idiots
<a class="" href='https://twitter.com/PFF_Jim'>@PFF_Jim</a>: James Sample finished with the highest coverage grade among safeties as well as sixth in Run Stop Rate.”

I like this pick. Alright in coverage for a SS.
It's getting okay grades: http://walterfootball.com/nfldraftgrades4.php Quote:Can he play FS?Or Cyp to FS

Obviously feel like that's a great pick by Jacksonville. Feel like Sample is a longtime quality starter in the league. Gave him 2nd RD grade We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Cyp may ride the bench if he doesn't improve significantly over the last 2 years. Nice competition, it appears.

Quote: But he doesn't pass the name test. Bust.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Saftey and LB were the two positions which needed some competition added. Hopefully this dude can play some FS too.
Quote:Unless they can both be on the field at the same time this doesn't make much sense?its the 4th freaking round, you cant expect to be getting guaranteed starters, you get the best players, I bet Seahawks fans hated Kam Chancellor pick in the 5th too

He was probably my 3rd favorite Safety left with the ability to play FS. I know Sample was listed at SS but I think he has the range to play either spot.
Why on earth do you guys think he's a SS? Yeah he played there in college but his coverage skills are apparently good enough to make the switch.

2015 NFL Draft - Analyzing Targets www.jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/topic/7892-2015-nfl-draft-analyzing-targets/
PICK ANALYSIS:
Sample is a great fit for Gus Bradley's Cover 3 defense. He's a physical box presence with excellent high to low explosiveness. A JUCO transfer who has just 1 year as a full time starter has a high ceiling in this defense. --Mark Dulgerian

Gus has said the he wants his safeties to be interchangeable. He wants both guys to be able to play high or in the box. If what people are saying is true, Sample fits that mold.

Free safety ability with a strong safety tenacity... seems like a chance that he may be competing at both spots? Quote:Why on earth do you guys think he's a SS? I like the pick nonetheless...
If he's intended to compete at FS (and it certainly seems he is) then I love the pick.
