Bernie Sanders is in

One thing I want to point out...

In December of 2007, there was this black dude with a Muslim name that I heard talking on MSNBC. He sounded pretty reasonable. But it was already accepted that Hillary was going to win the primaries...

This black guy was told he had no chance...

Politics is a lot like the play Peter Pan. If enough people believe and clap loud enough, Tinkerbell lives!! :-)

I for one am completely behind Bernie. Hillary is beatable!!

The weakness of Bernie, which Obama didn't have, is that Bernie doesn't talk in sound bites... that I think we'll be something that is refreshing, but can cause him trouble because of how lazy the media is...

LOL - Bernie and Peter Pan, yeah that sounds about right.

What we learned in 2008 is that in the Democratic Party a black male liberal trumps a white female liberal. They've apparently set a pecking order. And a female certainly trumps a socialist. I mean, the Democrats can be dumb, but they're not that dumb.

Bernie Sanders has about as much of a chance of becoming the next President of the United States as Vladimir Putin.

Quote:I read that he said he won't be running an negative adds which is admirable but him just calling Clinton on her hypocrisy is good enough for me.

Ted Cruz has made the same pledge.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

About as much as Cruz as well.

As an aside, does anyone remember the Fox News host saying she wish Putin was our prez for 48 hours? You post made me think of that.

While I can agree partly with your view, I think one can remove"democrat" and insert American citizen and still be pretty spot on... :-)

One thing I would like everyone to consider. Whether one likes it or not, we've lived in a socialist country since WWII...

We're all socialist to a certain extent...

Care to elaborate?

Um I can do that we absolutely are a soft socialist state. Education is socialized, our healthcare has been socialized, our police force, firefighters, military an emergency response all operate under an umbrella of socialism. Most housing loans are federally backed and distributed through socialistic channels. Then you have the out right welfare which is pure socialism at the state and federal levels. Department of transportation is another big one.

Honestly it's hard to find a sector of our economy that hasn't been socialized in some way.

Id argue it's the root of many of our problems but his point is true we are most definitely a socialist state to some extent.

In other words, we live in an industrialized country in the 21st century. Which country/society should we be emulating?

Try to stay within the last 150 years.

(Now let me go back to the thread in which so many are wailing about the Fowler pick.)

Sure that's a fair statement it's a socialized world not arguing for or against it just calling it what it is.

Why should we emulate anyone? The world works best when they emulate us. We started being like them and it all went to hell.

That's like your opinion though. Plenty of people are happy with the direction we are headed.

For those who think Hillary is a landslide, no one expected Obama to be a player until he was.  Lots of time for the political landscape to change.

Get out of my head!!!

The facts are the facts. Whether you want to admit it or not, we all have benefited from our socialistic society.

Are there problems? No doubt. But you have to first live with the facts.

Now there can be discussions on whether we should adjust our bureaucracies that run our social programs. But it is my opinion that the programs are not at the heart of the problem...

There is a place for capitalism and the so called free market. But I don't think our society would benefit from privatizing and deregulation all facets of our public lives.
