NFLN has much better coverage/analysis.

 

ESPN has much better infographics/tickers.

 

Neither is even close, IMO.

As a cord cutter it is NFL.com for me and I am totally OK with it.  I will, however, miss hearing the commentators criticize whoever we pick  :woot: .  

The best thing about NFL.com?  

If  When they go to advertisement during the Jags pick, you can find it easy, instead of waiting for their little ticker to pass by at the bottom (and then bypass the Jags anyway as they go back to advertisement, and the ticker disappears for a couple of ads)

I tend to watch ESPN more just because NFL.com archives the NFLN coverage, so I can watch those later.

I used to be die hard NFLN mostly due to Mayock, but he's kind of soured on me of late. I tuned in one year and they had Rich, Michael Irvin, Deion, Charles Davis and Mayock all at the table at the same time. I flipped over to ESPN and it was just Berman and Kiper at the table, and they would cut to Schefter and Mortensen for the "hot takes / rumors" and then to a table of Jaworski and Kirk Herbstreit to do a breakdown of what he did well and what he will need to do well. Turned out pretty good I thought.

 

I've kind of gravitated towards ESPN since then, but I reserve the right to change my mind at any point.

 

I used to love the ESPN coverage.  And then one year Berman started hinting at the pick right before it was made as though he was really a Swami even though clearly someone was whispering the pick in his ear.  Was really annoying.  So I switched over to NFL Network when they first started covering the draft and it was just Mayock, Charles Davis, and I think Eisen.  And all they were doing was talking about the players.  It was just analysis, you could tell they had really done their homework, and it was really really good.  However once they started adding Michael Irvin and all those other blowhards it started becoming unwatchable.  

 

I just want someone to talk about the players.  And before each pick, talk about the team and their needs.

I watch NFLN predominantly but will switch to ESPN during commercial breaks. I like NFLN's characters better. I wish NFLN would stop with the Michael Irvin's and Primetimes who obviously haven't done as much research as other guys but are known names.


If it could be Rich Eisen, Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks, and Charles Davis I think it would be much much better.


I think we have to remember that entertainment is a big factor for the casual fan. The fact that we're on a message board talking about the draft probably means we are more than just the causal fan. I just want the facts and some comments on the selected player buy guys who I feel have done some proper research.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Unfortunately it's making it entertaining for the lowest common denominator. We, as die hard football fans, will watch regardless of the broadcast. 

 

Personally I would be ok with an anchor and just draft analysts like Kiper, McShay, Charles Davis and Daniel Jeremiah.

 

The former players like Marshall Faulk, Ray Lewis and Michael Irvin are basically useless.

 

There are some like Trent Dilfer that do a ton of homework and actually know about the prospects. They are the exception.
