Player Comparison's

Quote: Time will tell if Dante Fowler Jr. even comes close to achieving the excellence that Terrell Suggs has. Yet, from a measurable standpoint, many teams were concerned about Suggs' 40 time coming out of Arizona St. While Fowler's Bench Press and Vertical Jump numbers weren't great, overall I think his measurables and work out numbers will help him in the 2015 Draft. Fowler was a tougher one for me but i did want to throw one out there because he has been mentioned with the jags so much. I went with suggs based mainly on the fact that he isn't the outright pass rusher like von miller or aldon smith. So i mostly based this one off of the violence he plays with and powerful hands, with some rush ability but can also set they edge if needed. it was off the top of my head so i knew it wasn't going to be perfect. Just wanted more opinions for conversations sake

Just wanted more opinions for conversations sake I'm glad you started this topic. I think it can provide excellent discussions not only before the draft but long after the draft. The draft process is subjective to a large extent. In some ways, a player will compare to another player to a very large degree. Yet, in some other ways, there are noticeable differences. If one looks at players in great enough depth, I'm sure significant differences can be found regardless of the two players being compared. Regardless, the more points that are brought out about players, the greater the opportunity to learn which at least for me is a major objective in reading and participating in these threads. Here's a comparison that I mentioned in another thread a couple of weeks ago but it's one that I think would fit well here: Sharrif Floyd vs. Malcom Brown
Malcom Brown is a tough one mostly because its not a sexy position harder for me to watch some of the more Important aspect and didn't study a lot because its not really a guy mentioned with the Jags. Best hand placement in the draft of the DT really good feet with some gets up the field well. for me its a poor mans Gerald McCoy

Only one guy I totally disagree with is M. Gordon compared to McFadden. Everything about the two guys is different. IMO the only thing McFadden did better than Gordon does now was speed. DMC had/has HR speed while Gordon is fast but will get run down.
I would compare T. Coleman to DMC. Both guys have HR speed, are high cut guys, and have some tightness in the hips.

Fowler comparison I can see others not so much. Gurley is Faster then Stephen Jackson ever was. Melvin Gordon isn't as physical a McFadden. Leonard Williams is more of a Dt then De like Watt even though they can do both. Cliff Avril is more of a true 4-3 defensive end while Beasley is more of a stand up Olb. Cliff way more physical at the point of attack. Cooper is more of a deep route Wr then Reggie Wayne who's was a really good possession Wr. Wayne more like MCcardell with Cooper more like JSmooth.

Quote:Interested to hear everyones thoughts on who they would compare top pick too, or anyone you would like to see in teal and black. Fowler=Derrick Harvey Cooper=Julio Jones Gurley=Demarco Murray Williams=Darnell Dockett Kevin White= Torrey Smith Melvin Gordon= Deangelo Williams Vic Beasley=Aldon Smith Since we staying opinions .. This just off the top of my head too.
Quote:Fowler=Derrick HarveyNo on all of them. Fowler played at Florida like Harvey but that's where comparison stops. Gurley is way more Physical then Murray who's strictly a 1 cut and go back. Cooper isn't as physical as Julio and White has better hands and more physical then Torrey Smith. Vic Beasley has more natural Pass rushing skills then Aldon Smith had coming out of college. Lol Im not gonna debate with you because this is my opinion.. You should show your comparison, instead of just saying No to someone elses. Quote:Fowler comparison I can see others not so much. Steven Jackson & Gurley = both big 6'2 225 + very physical runs while both being very well rounded in terms of catching the ball Melvin & McFadden i was going with the upright running style and the want to kick the play outside and gordon plays faster than his 40 will tell you. Williams to Watt (a young JJ WATT) like i said!!! if we knew jj watt was Amazing he wouldn't have been pick 11. with that being said i think if williams needs to he can hold up at any position Cliff avril coming out was a some pass rush specialist who had all the same questions as beasley. beasley like avril was projected a LB but had yet to ever play the position. Cooper & Wayne - Simple, both fast, two of the smoothest route runner but still have big play ability, and reliable day in and day out.

Quote:Fowler=Derrick Harvey Love the Dockett one never thought of that i think its very fitting if Williams Matures (which he will, one of the youngest players in the draft) he will become a more physical guy and that fits very well. I also like the Deangelo and gordon one just something about there running seems to fit besides how high gordon runs. Vic beasley to small to compare to aldon, coming out aldon was raw and vic has had way more experience. Cooper has no where near the freak or size label julio has. although play style its that far off both very physical going after the ball. Hate comparing Fowler to such a bust who was so lazy and never physical, when those are two of fowlers better traits

Quote:Steven Jackson & Gurley = both big 6'2 225 + very physical runs while both being very well rounded in terms of catching the ball this one here is the one that sticks out to me as the one most far off. gordon is stronger, lower center of gravity, more power. mcfadden is faster, leaner, skinnier legs by far. the rest of them are pretty reasonable.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Quote:Fowler=Derrick Harvey just awful.

Not gonna lie about the Gordon one, its hard to pick one player because he does have many different aspect to his game. had to pick one and have been hearing jamal charles a lot and hate that one. Gordon and Mcfadden both play with a high running style but neither as explosive as Charles tried to find an even medium

But ill cut Fowler some slack.. lol ill compare him too John Abraham .. Vic Beasley 6'3" Aldon Smith 6'4" they were similar in size. I agree Coop doesn't have the exact size as Julio but speed and route running very close. And they only 2 inches off in height.. Ill give you aldon smith, one played closer to 225 in the season while to other plays pretty natural at 260+ and also vic has a slightly more polished rush aldon at the time of the draft was a pure athetisim guy. Ask for the two inches of julio jones and cooper.... Its three inches and cooper is already a better route runner..... ask russell wilson how much of a difference two or three inches makes, might have been a first rounder not third.

He has good size. In terms of size, He's Jimmy Smith and Jimmy was the best receiver in the NFL for a while. I'd say Cooper has good size. He's not a freak physically like Julio, but good size nevertheless.

Is it too soon for a Justin Blackmon comparison haha! Cooper vs Blackmon 6'0, 210-215 both good route runners blackmon not as fast, but ran a 4.4 at his pro day. both attack the ball and are good after the catch.
