I guess we have 2 different definitions for the word dominant. Thomas had a very good season but he didn't dominate like Donald did his last year in college. AD was almost unblockable, he just fell a little in the draft because of his height.

I agree with this. I think Thomas is a really good player but outside the top 5 for me.

Agreed. Thomas is a good player, but in no way, shape or form is he anywhere near a top 5 pick. A truly dominant player can be a star on his own. Thomas is the kind of guy who will need a solid D-Lineman on the line with him to reach his full potential.

Thomas' cutups are 1000x more impressive than Fowler's at least. He should come in as a comfortably plus athlete too. Not at Donald/Alualu superfreak level, but still very good.

Fowler rarely beat his man in one on ones at Florida. He has zero pass rush moves besides effort and he couldn't bend the corner. Florida had to move him around just to create opportunities for him.

Donald was a senior. Look at Donald's junior year stats and they are similar to Thomas's sophomore year this year. For all you know if Thomas had stayed he would have put up similar stats to Donald next year. Not to mention Pitt is in a weaker conference.

Based on what? He WAS the Stanford DL. Jonathan Allen had way more help than Thomas, if we're using that as some kind of measure.

So you make a post saying he had an average first season being coached by the worst coach in NFL history and now you are saying he is not good? I think you are a bit confused.   He doesnt have to win off the edge consistently if a real coach knew how to use him properly.  Not to mention he would be much better off the edge if he had a real coach.  I think a year coming off the ACL will help as well

But he didnt so its an unknown.  You can say that for any junior in the country, "Oh if this guy stays another year he could have the best college season ever."   Donald won almost ever award you can win as a dlineman except the Heisman. Thomas is not the prospect AD was nor did he dominate the way AD did.  He is now doing in the pros what he did he senior year if not more.  I guess we can agree to disagree on him being as good as Aaron Donald.  I doubt you can find many that will agree with you on that.

To be fair, you'll have a hard time finding anyone as productive or dominant as Donald was even in this past decade. Only a handful of guys belong on a list close to the college player Aaron Donald was.


Solomon Thomas will be a very intriguing pick. I can't wait to see how he performs at the combine and how tall/big/long he really is or isn't

I don't look at a sack number to determine if a player is good like you do.
