Jaguar's deep threat
|
Quote:The deep threat thing will probably take a little more time to become a consistent option due to the protection issues and general youth at QB and WR.hmmm. and Carr stared down the receiver as soon as he finished his drop back. I think most all of our young receivers - Hurns,Lee and Robinson - could all be deep threats. There were glimpses of great plays at time last year. After an offseason or two of work they could be pretty darn dangerous.
Quote:Hurns is a natural deep threat WR.Uses his body instead of his hands to catch passes. That alone will keep him from being a consistently productive deep threat. He really needs to learn to attack the ball while its in the air to improve his value to the team.

I think Lee is the only truly scary deep threat on the team right now. At least he has the potential to be that. As far as FA is concerned, Maclin led receivers of plays of 40 yards or more. Torrey Smith has unstoppable speed but he wants 10 million a year at least and he isn't worth that. That's why I have no problem is the jags decide on taking Cooper or White with their first pick. Give your star QB all the weapons you can.
What good is a deep threat WR if the Offensive Line cant block longer than 3 secs?
Quote:What good is a deep threat WR if the Offensive Line cant block longer than 3 secs?that is so true. if a WR is running a deep route. And when he cuts ..looks back at the qb... and the qb is already getting up off of the ground. no chance at a deep reception

I'd rather see us draft somebody like Kevin White. 6'3", 215 lbs AND RUNS A 4.35! Usually you see that kind of speed in guys who are 5.9". He might be the next ODB or Megatron.

He might be the next ODB or Megatron. He has good upside but let's not get too crazy on measurables. Drafting a WR at #3 seems pretty foolish when we can get a D-lineman/OLB there. Fills a bigger need at a more premium position.

Towards the last half of the season he actually did catch with his hands more than his body.
I didnt vote because my pick wasnt up there. I choose Streeter.
If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts

Quote:Considering the new offensive staff hasn't really made a playbook yet..... yeah, there are no deep plays. There are no plays. We have to hope for the best. I want to agree with you but I see another rebuilding year. Man, I hope not.
This guy is awesome. Will also deliver TD's with punt returns and kickoffs. He is a little small but very good. If we have a extra 2nd round from a trade he would be fine. Other than that go get a veteran and go with what you have. No way receiver at 3. We need to much else.

With a supporting cast on offence such as the o line , run game , te etc. Will really open things up for the young pass attack and make things easier .
