Rank RBs after Cook and Fournette

Quote:Now there is an idea for Jacksonville's offense when we finally have balance: the BLACK ATTACK. If only we could get an elite three-down RB and run-blocking offensive linemen . . .

I like Gallman a lot as a second tier RB.

He brings versatility, speed, and vision - something we hoped Yeldon would bring.

Yeldon brings versatility if you count catching passes from the backfield.

You're right. I'm also including the option to put him on ST as well.

It's always good to have competition to push players to continuously get better (I'm talking about Greene, who did pretty well but fumbling was an issue).

I thought Greene was going to be good before his fumble on a punt return last year. Of course being a WR, his competition is not going to come from a RB.

I think Yeldon paired with Fournette would be great. Yeldon as that pass catching back and Fournette as the bruiser. Would be a great tandem.

A RB depth chart of Fournette, Yeldon, Grant would more than suffice. Plus we still have Ivory hanging around

Not that this actually means anything since so much misinformation goes around this time of year.

If Fournette's NFL player comparison is accurate, he will be a three-down RB and not paired with someone else in a committee system.

Sure he will. You can be a "three down" back and still give some carries to others in certain situations. McCoy was an every down back in Philly and they still have carries to Sproles-esque. This isn't the 80's. There's plenty of usage for a change of pace or pass catching back in a system designed around a main RB.

I believe you're also confused between "committee" and "change of pace"

I know "committee" usually means what the Falcons are doing with Freeman and Coleman. My thought was the Vikings never take Peterson (Fournette's NFL comparison) off the field for a change of pace and he would go to a team that does not emphasize what Yeldon does on offense. If a team is desperate enough to take the best RB in the draft, they just want a guy who can run three yards and a cloud of dust.

Just going with a top five:

1. Dalvin Cook - FSU

2. Leonard Fournette - LSU

3. D'Onta Foreman - Texas

4. Christian McCaffrey - Stanford

5. Joe Mixon - OKU

Idk. Mixon really isn't that good.

A team struggling for an identity doesn't need a polarizing player like Mixon

Gallman and Perine are the two who interest me most outside the top two at the moment.

The way Gallman shrugs out of tackles seems similar to Cook (although, to be clear, I'm not saying he is as good as Cook)

But I think we already have two average RB's in Yeldon and Ivory, so if we're going to add someone, he has to be a cut above that.

He's really good but not on that level is what I meant.

1a fournette

1b cook

Then I'd have a small gap and slot mixon in. I just can't say he's that good that I'd overlook the off field stuff and take him high.

Average is not good enough. We need an above average RB who can carry the ball more than 20 times per game.
