The lefty hate sites are just loving them some Trump right now. Their traffic has risen exponentially. The down side is their content is used without proper attribution, and may even be offered up as a particular poster's actual thoughts.

I don't mind cutting unnecessary items from the federal budget.
What I do mind is starting a trade war with Mexico, which would damage our economy and raise prices for American consumers. Quote:Were you busy in the 2000s? Yeah, working for the DoD during one of the lowest military budgeted times in modern times. Question still stands. ![]() Quote:I don't mind cutting unnecessary items from the federal budget.Guess I won't be getting Guac at Chipotle anymore.....
These are the reasons Trump was put in office.

We export $236 billion to them. We import $295 billion from them. That looks like $59 billion to me. A long way from a trillion. An import tax on Mexican goods would be passed on to the American consumer. That's the whole purpose of it, isn't it? To raise prices of Mexican goods so American consumers buy less of them? http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/d...li=BBnb7Kz We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:A trillion dollars? I don't think so.I should have been more clear in stating a cumulative since NAFTA. What you have to also consider is the rise in deficit each year. This is a far cry from trade surplus recognized prior to NAFTA. The whole idea is to make American goods and Manufacturing more desirable than to rely on another country. Close to 90% of Mexican goods come to the US. The import side is severely lopsided and if it wasn't for the resources required for the American companies within Mexico, it would be even more so. There needs to be some adjustments in the trade sector, not just with Mexico, but globally. America first! ![]()

Quote:I don't mind cutting unnecessary items from the federal budget.I don't think so. Mexico has basically no impact on our exports as they don't buy many (think weapons/advanced medical equipment) basically only things that we are best in the world at and they couldn't get anywhere else (and are also already expensive). So them tariffing us won't have a major impact because they already only buy what they HAVE to buy from us (i.e. what we have expertise in that they simply cannot match). Whereas we buy many things (cars will be my primary example, but also air conditioners etc) that we also make here. As far as us tariffing them, its a different story. They don't make anything that we cannot. Therefore their prices can only go as high as US competition will allow. Raising prices on some vehicles manufactured there would happen somewhat, but really it would just cut margins (a truck isn't more valuable, even if FCA had to pay a import fee). Perhaps this margin cut would be enough to stimulate companies to come back. FCA would be an example of someone who would get hurt. Ford and GM? Not as much. They make more of their trucks here. The South will disproportionately be advantaged due to lower wages and more business friendly laws. Next would be the rust belt. This would be an undoubted net benefit. Once again, tariffs on Mexico do not affect consumer cost if there are businesses here that do the same thing. Companies that import from Mexico cannot charge a premium for Mexican products (LOL, why pay more for a worse product?), so their price cannot go up if someone else makes it. This is a unilateral WIN for the US. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! I'm still trying to figure out how any of that is unconstitutional. The government funds way too much crap. If organizations need funding then they need to learn the fine art of fundraising. It's been going on for decades and decades. The government also funds way too many countries. We have our fingers in so many pots it's unreal. I'm pretty sure most of the time the government has absolutely no clue where the money actually goes or how it's actually used.
I do like PBS and NPR for being public access to everyone. On the one hand say I say leave them alone because they are funded by grants and such and are not subject to a particular ideal to push like they would be if funded soley by private corporations. On the other hand they are absolutely subject to a particular ideal because they are funded by grants, member stations' dues, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, government agencies, foundations, corporations and private citizens who all have the same agenda. I would rather the government agencies take themselves out of it and let the rest do the funding. There is no reason the government should fund these. In other countries this is and would be considered propaganda tools.
Typical james_fried_chicken post. Fling poo against the wall and never return to respond.
