Why would you rather have him than Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon, who was a better running back and did not tear his ACL last year?

 

Georgia had no problems surviving without Gurley during his suspension. That tells me he was overrated because people were calling him a Heisman Trophy candidate and the backup was just as good.

this tells me Brett Favre and Joe Montana were overrated because their backups came in, took their jobs, and won Super Bowls

If Gurley didn't tear his ACL, I like him all the way. Yes, he could come back and be dominant, but you can't deny by the way he runs the risk from coming back from an ACL tear. The 2nd round pick to me is not worth that risk when there are other worthy prospects. I like Maxx Williams by far, then Eric Kendricks. Williams might not make it past the 1st round.

I fully expect Gordon to go late in the first round, possibly to Indy. Gurley, because of his ACL tear and suspension, could last into three. If he's on the board when we pick there, he'd be a worthwhile selection, but no sooner imo.

There's absolutely no chance, none, zero, zilch, Gurley's "suspension" will impact his draft status.

I'm pretty positive that Melvin Gordon will be picked in the first round so I'm not even considering him in the second round.  Don't get me wrong, I think Gordon will be a stud RB in the NFL.

I'm pretty sure we'll find a right tackle and a tight end in free agency, so this pick will either be a linebacker or a safety.


Hopefully, Kendricks or Perryman. But I wouldn't be disappointed with a top tier RB.

At this point, the draft means nothing. We don't know what players we will sign to what positions. We have guesses and dreams, but that is all. Until we sign one of the top 3 TEs, Maxx Williams is my dream pick as long as he is there.

The whole thread is hypothetical. The question is who would you pick if all of them are available at #36? If both Gordon and Gurley are available then, I would rather pick Gordon. Remember the combine, pro days, and private workouts will change a lot of projections. I would rather not worry about who is expected to be picked late in the first round before the combine starts.

There is no reason for anybody to think we know what the Jaguars want to do with their first round pick. All of the talk about pass rushers now is irrelevant.

 

The best way to get a tight end for the future is draft one. That has always been David Caldwell's philosophy - build through the draft and use free agency to plug gaps. And that is what we need now.

Could be. The Otto and a 3-4 OLB have similar responsibilities.
