Its a players Option not the teams. He can choose to be a free agent or stay and play.

It's actually both ways because there's an option bonus involved that forces a decision from the team before the bonus is paid out.

He'll sign.  No other team would pay him $4m.  He's pretty much like Ziggy Hood .... high motor, low production.

I am thinking, especially with the recent injury to Marks, we should at least pickup the 5th year option on this guy.  He provides solid depth across the line and could backup both Bryant and Hood.  Marks is likely to start the year on PUP. 

 

Didn't Tyson Alualu already complete 5 NFL seasons?

He's a backup, you don't pay backups what you pay starters.  He's just a guy, you keep him if he's cheap, let him walk if he gets offered a bigger contract elsewhere - which isn't that likely anyway.

No way, need to make a new contract that fits a backup caliber player if it's an option.  The guy is due to be the 11th highest salary cap hit next year.
