A Football Life Jimmy and Keenan
|
Quote:FBT yes this was a awesome show and I will say that everyone that is a Jag fan needs to see this. Gave me chill bumps how great our offense was. I remember coming down the ramp listening to the head phones on the way out I guess it was 1997.Sexton was saying that we now had 2--1,000 yard receivers and a 1,000 yard rusher. Now we want just one of any 1000 yard season We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Surprised more people aren't talking about this Football Life on here to be honest....
Quote:Surprised more people aren't talking about this Football Life on here to be honest....Not surprising as most probably weren't around for it. I miss the old gritty days where teams feared playing our defense and the game was never out of reach for the offense. Now, I want to give up when we fall 10 points behind! ![]()
Great show. Amazing how well Jimmy was able to hide his addiction and really amazing he was able to sustain being an elite WR. Also, I really have a ton of respect for Tom Coughlin.

Tom's heart wrenching reaction to 911 put all of my bitter thoughts about his exit to rest. The fact that he still is so very charitable and supportive of the community puts all of the football stuff in perspective. That said... dang those teams were so darn good.

What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
During the game they made it sound like it was just a preview and that the whole program will be aired tonight, so I didn't bother trying to watch.
Quote:This. And a lot of people were at the game and couldn't watch it last night either.I was at the game to the very end. I was fortunate that I could get out of the stadium, hop on the bike, and I was home in 20 minutes. I was already recording on the DVR, so I was able to watch it as soon as I got home. It was well worth the lost sleep. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Tom is a man's man, and I also have a ton of respect for Jimmy being able to own up to his mistakes to basically the whole world.
It was a excellent show some good some bad could have done without Mighty Mite Pete Prisco on there. But this brings me to the Question.
If and when they add to the Ring of Honor, Should they go in as a tandem as they played?

Someone on here posted that it was airing on Friday night, so I'm sure a lot of people didn't realize it was on right after the game.

Just watched it (thank god for DVRs). Well worth seeing.
I'd forgotten some of those games - and I was there. Seems like so long ago, and yet, not really. I hope some non- Jaguars fans see it and realize what a nice history this franchise has.

Quote:I hope some non- Jaguars fans see it and realize what a nice history this franchise has. One thing that struck me when I found out they were doing this is the company they're in. They've done this program for many great/HoF players, coaches and teams. It was extremely nice, and somewhat telling, that they actually did a show on Jimmy and Keenan that gave as much focus to how awesome they were on the field as they did to Jimmy's troubles off it. I've long beat the drum that Willie Anderson and Henry Ellard are the most underrated receiving duo that I've ever had the privilege to watch play. Watching last night and reliving a lot of fond moments in the infancy of our franchise, I am pretty much convinced that Jimmy and Keenan are. Willie and Henry are a close second though. ![]()

Quote:It was a excellent show some good some bad could have done without Mighty Mite Pete Prisco on there. But this brings me to the Question. He did have one quote that resonated with me...when he made the statement about the potential effect playing against Tory and Isaac in the Super Bowl would have had on their legacy outside of Jacksonville. To this day, I am certain we would've slaughtered the Rams in that Super Bowl...but I am obviously biased.

Quote:Imagine if they played with an all-time QB or even during the modern era of football where you can't even touch a WR. Imagine if they played with a QB the likes of Gabbert or Henne or one of the many below average Qbs out there, while in their prime. This entire thread would not even exist and they would not have had near the career they did. And Jimmy probably would not have lasted as long as he did in the NFL, as his addiction would have shortened his career even more then it did.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
I wasn't old enough to really watch the games in the early days. But, how much I love this team and how much this team means to me made me want to educate myself in the history of it during those glory years. Even though I didn't really watch them play early on, I felt like, because I did my research on the team, I was there. Being a Jags fan is a huge part of my life and I wouldn't trade this team for any other. Go jags! Forever!
I feel bad for the kids who weren't old enough to witness the 96-99 Jags. Couldn't imagine growing up only remembering the Jags of recent.
