Rushing up the middle

Quote:That would mean that DT Roy Miller isnt as good at stopping the run as everyone claims... that cant be true...

I really think the Jaguars are going to draft a DT in the 1st round to help Pro Bowl DT Marks out.

Good run stuffing DTs take on linemen to keep them off the LBs who make the tackles. This team needs better linebackers.

Poz being injured didnt help, and Telvin Smith is a rookie yet I think he's doing a great job!   JT Thomas will make a few great plays but then make a few huge mistakes... Geno Hayes seems to be just average.

Quote:We've been getting gashed up the middle recently.  I know part of it is the teams we've faced, but even so we shouldn't be giving up > 100 yards a game up the gut.

This is something that hasn't really been talked about much around here.  Our front 4 get penetration, but too often we allow rushers to get critical yards. There's no way you can compare this D to the Stroud/Big Hen days.  Is this a function of defensive scheme, poor line run play, or a lack of a decisive run stopping LB?  Or is our line playing well and we're just having our stats blown out of proportion due to a couple of huge runs that are a result of terrible safety play?  I have no clue.

Losing Poz hurt us a lot more than most people will admit.  He has his deficiencies in pass coverage, but he is a gap-filling, tackling machine against the run.

Yeah his sack that torn his peck really hurt the jaguars but a lot of Jag fans seem to under rate him or hate him for no reason.  He is getting older though so it wouldnt shock me if this year or next the Jaguars start looking at the draft for his replacement.

What great plays has JT Thomas made? I see him missing tackles every week.

He has like three TDs this year?

Quote:Also, according to PFF, Roy Miller has had a pretty rough stretch over the last few weeks, including his worst game of the season yesterday.

I'd like to see Jeremiah George back at MLB. Just watching the game, it always feels to me like the RB either gets clogged up at the line, or he is untouched 6 yards down the field with only Cyprien left to make an open field tackle.

How often do you see the RB clear the line and get dropped by one of the LB for a 2 yard gain?
Miller's 2 penalties killed us. His first one kept us from keeping Houston bottled up back towards the end zone, and his second one was when he bit on the 4th and short hard count. Gave up a 1st and 10 for nothing.

2 INTs 5 PDs 1 forced fumble and recovery and TD 37 solo tackles.. .i mean not bad for a guy that filled in after Poz was injured.. but not great either when he wiffs on so many plays...

but he's just a guy.. its a team collapase.
