Inside the Numbers on Gus and the coaching crew 2nd half atrocities

Atrocities?

A little bit melodramatic.

Did you see the post of his I referenced? He offered nothing new, nothing insightful, just some stale stats used to make him look like he knows something. That may impress his school friends, but it gets old.

If you think you're some much smarter than the coaches why follow this team? If they won't listen to his brilliance he really needs to jump on the Seahawks bandwagon, as they have one seat available.
What do you offer new?  The only thing you do is come in to derail a thread and CRY about the cryers. If you don't like to read a thread then don't read it.  Instead you click it anyway to come in to cry about others crying.  Your real smart.

Quote:There are some very naive people on this board who believe Gus and the rest are doing a good job.  This boggles my mind with the win record combined with the blowouts.   But again some of these people defended Jack/Gene to the death.

I believe good coaches earn their money in the second half of football games.  Teams go into the locker room to regroup and adjust their game plan to win the game.  NOT this team.  While other teams are adjust Gus is back there scooping ice cream.  This team fails time and time again in the second half and shows a failure of a staff unable to make adjustments.  Lets look:

All Second half numbers in 2014:  Also keep in mind some of these games were blowouts and the opposing team were playing soft prevent or had their backups in

-In 13 games only 4 times has this team outscored their opponent in the second half

-The point difference is just sickening  182-106  WOW that is just atroicious

-The team has been shut out 4 times in the second half with 2 other games just a fg

I could keep going but these 3 stats alone just boggle my mind.  How can a coach and his staff perform so badly and people continue to make excuses for them.  WOW

Coach of the year right here fellas: Sick
Look, another "Jags suck, fire Gus" thread. Man, this team and board should be sponsored by Prozac!

Those stats actually look like improvement... In 2013 the point differential for 13 games was 352-174 and in that same 13 game stretch, not once did the Jags outscore the oppenent in the second half!

Posted this in another thread, it fits here too.

I'll say this much: I think if the ownership DOES have doubts about this staff's ability to get the job done, they should replace him now, rather than waiting a year or two and potentially stunting the growth of the young talent this team has. It doesn't seem easy, to me at least, to spend multiple years learning one system, and then blowing the thing up and trying to learn another one. For how crappy Gabbert was, the multiple staff changes every year couldn't have helped any.

I don't care what decision they make, whether they keep Gus or not. I do want them to be sure of themselves, their decisions, and the reasons why they made those decisions. I think and hope they will do just that.

This is a big offseason for both the ownership and the staff. I don't doubt for a minute that the Khan family is at least considering all their options. It's time to get this team to where it can start building some stability.

I want to believe in your opinion because you called the whole JDR/Gene Smith thing, but the talent level on this team is what the main problem is. Players grow, and perhaps coaches can too, I don't know. Gus has certainly made mistakes, I can see them from my couch, but I don't know that now is the right time to dump him. I'm glad I don't have to call the shots, really, but I'm sure the Khans are discussing it.

The point differential for 2014 is on track to be about the same as 2013.  Worst in the NFL once again.

It doesn't matter whether you think it's Caldwell, Bradley, Khan, youth, inexperience, bad drafts - year after year of losing and not being competitive is taking it's toll....

A change has to be made.  I honestly can't believe that Caldwell sold him on a 2 win season in the second year of the rebuild.  I doubt they fire bradley(although I would like it) but some coaching and player changes have to be better.  I can see some new assistant hires and Gus on the hot seat next year.  Caldwell has his ticket invested in bortles.  He will determine his job

I was only counting the second half of games.  If you count the entire game it's worse this year.

Wow, that was actually insightful. Looks like the week off did good. We are still awful, but at least we are slowly trending better.

Remember back in 1989 the Seattle fans were gearing toward the 2014 Super Bowl ??   I'm sure the time went fast and it was worth the wait.    2039 is right around the corner.  Heck, a few more world wars and we should be right there.

I am not sure the league will even be around in 2039 the way it is acting right now. I think the popularity is actually starting to shift away...
