Initial Top 4 In Playoff

#21

Quote:yes, it will.   UGA and Bama will replace two of the spots. rofl

LOL, can you imagine Georgia playing Miss St in the conference title game...and winning?!  UGA replaces Miss St, Bama jumps into the top 4.  We'll have at least two one loss SEC teams in the final four.

SEC conspiracy theorists unite.

that could happen, and people will start burning things.  this aint gonna work.  the only people that will be OK with it are FSU fans and people in the south.  the rest of the country will riot.

The only reason I dont think that will happen is because I dont think they care.  People up north really could care less about college football (mostly because they suck at it).

I think people out west do care about it more, but until they are on par with the SEC, what can they say?

I really hope these guys start pushing SEC/Pac10/B1G/Big 12 match ups more often.  The big boys need to play the big boys during the year.  It will help sort this mess out some....or make it worse.  I really dont know.

you are going to learn that isn't true.  people care.  BIG 10 and Pac-12 fans do exist and they care.... a lot.

B1G has no legs to stand on.  Win a tough game out of conference, and then they can have a seat the table.

I agree on Pac-12 to a point....but the only team in the conversation at this point is Oregon.

If they're consistent, the Auburn Mississippi State loser will drop down behind all those 1-loss teams next to LSU, which would have a very similar resume. Quality wins, and two losses to top teams in the SEC West.

LSU (with 2 losses to top five teams and a win over Ole Miss) being behind Utah (with 1 loss to an unranked team and 1 win in the top 25) is very telling.

Record is king and as the SEC teams lose they'll drop below all or nearly all of the 1 loss teams out of the top 10.

I will not argue that these could easily be the top 4 teams in the country, and that is how the teams will be chosen.

However, after we have to watch an all SEC playoff, I believe they should expand the playoff and limit the amount of teams from any conference that participate (Similar to the NFL divisions/ wildcard system).

I guess it isn't possible for Miss. St, Auburn, and Ole Miss to make it.  The Egg Bowl, Auburn vs. Miss St. will eliminate a couple.

Just because the B1G teams aren't on the level of the top SEC teams doesn't mean people up here don't care.  It's far from the truth for most of the teams.  Iowa hasn't been great for years now and we have consistently travel very well to whatever bowl game we end up in, wherever it may be.  We're known for that.  Nebraska, OSU, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin etc all have great fans that very much care about college football.

As far as the playoff teams I think they have it right as it sits right now.  Though it will be a lot different in the end once the games play themselves out.  It's hard to argue that those aren't the four best teams in the country.

Not near like they do in the south. I am originally from there and the passion isn't close to what it is on a whole as it is here. Sure you have some fanatics, but it's not like down here.

The Big 10/11/12/13/14 is terrible.

There are hardcore fans up there that root for their teams, but from what I've seen in general, people dont care.  I work with quite a few people from the New York City area and they could care less about college football...its all pro, all the time.

The committee showed that record isn't king. Look at ND and Ohio St. Quality of competition is HUGE for them

I see what you're saying. I was going with more the Midwest than just north. I mistook what you'd said. I agree with for the most part.

You're talking about two teams with the same records as those ranked around them. SOS and quality wins are the tiebreaker. Record is king barring extreme circumstances ala Marshall or Duke.
