You got to wonder what Shad is thinking

Spending wildly in free agency hardly ever works out. For every Mike Peterson we signed, we signed guys like Jerry Porter, Hugh Douglas, Laurent Robinson, Aaron Ross, etc to nullify. The jaguars just need to develop their draft picks. Spending wildly in free agency isn't a good idea. Never works out for the redskins or raiders.

Coughlin had success in free agency and in trades, but they were for high-reward, low-risk players.

Quote:I say if Rex Ryan gets fired in NY that you pay him whatever he wants to come be DC (under the table you agree that if things don't work out with Bradley) he will take over.

Say what you want, but he has never had a reputable QB. Take Bortles and mix in a Rex Ryan Defense...BOOM!
I'd love Rex as DC, not sure about HC. He'll make the defense tough. They look soft and scared out there.

Coughlin got the right guys in free agency.  It was a huge part of what gave us so much success so fast.

It is not how much you spend in free agency it is who you get in free agency.

We just picked the wrong players.

Neither is being first in the NFL by a mile in cap space.  BOTH extremes are bad.  We need to get away from the extremes.  We are cheap.  Period.  And the product on the field shows.  It's awful, just awful.  They got what they paid for.  But the scoreboards are nice and a chick got into the pool in jeans!!!  Whoooooo!

Khan is a business man, and he wants championships. This tells me he's upset. I can guarantee he had say in playing Bortles in our first home game. He's not going to stand for this much longer. The reason why things are the same is bc he knows nothing can be done for this season.

His actions so far have indicated nothing but the contrary.  He hired a noob GM and a noob HC for cheap.  He's not shown that he's been willing to make a splash on anything other than the very things that have ZERO to do with winning football.

Frankly, I wish that he would act like 'less' of a business man.  It would be fun just to have someone really GO FOR IT to win again and stop looking at things through the lens of, if I build this bathtub sized pool will we sell a few more tickets to some [BLEEP] guys.

No because she couldn't post/yell/lecture with an electronic device in the pool.

She's one of the worst posters on this board and knows literally zero about football.

TC was the best coach the Jags ever had.

He brought some real NFL talent to Jax.

Sure he missed on a few guys, everyone does, but he had a pretty good eye for talent.

The best the Jags have had so far to date.

It's OK to overspend on guys in free agency.  Your hope is that you still build through the draft.

We probably overspent on Toby and Beadles.....

Am I mad that we went after them?  No.

Go after some other guys next year and hope they play better.

That doesn't mean you DON'T draft a RB or a good guard if they're available.  You do both.  You have to..... because you'll miss on some.

No doubt about that, and he could coach.

Edit: coach, and develop talent

They attempted to go after Mack, Sanders, and Young, among others. I think, ultimately, the Jaguars will be ridiculously active this upcoming free agency period. I don't know who's available and who's not. Julius Thomas won't make it to free agency. Mccourty might, but he will command high dollars that I don't see as being worth it.

Yeah, FA never works out.  Alex Mack, the $42 million center, got carted off today and may be lost for the season.  We got our C of the future with a 6th round pick.  Build through the draft.

Still, the Jags are gonna have to dole out some money in FA next year by rule.

we got our center of the future?

I'm sorry?  He's starting, he's not particularly playing well.

We average 2 ypc while our running backs are running the ball, and we allowed a very mobile QB with great pocket presence get sacked 6 times today.

The jury is out on Bowanko.  I'm not saying he's playing poorly, but you can't just proclaim him the center of the future like he's been consistently great already.

Maybe give out free sandals to the women in the pool area and collect and drop them in his office after the game.
