Advice From Star Wars Fans

#21

Quote:I've only ever watched the first release movie. If I were to watch the rest of them it would be in order of release because from what I've gathered from esoteric Star Wars allusions, the story is more effective that way.

It really is the best way to watch them. I tried watching them in 'order' and it just doesn't work for me.

Order of release.

As strange as it sounds, IV, V and VI lay the groundwork for Vader's story.

Also, y'all are telling me that Leia gets even MORE slutted up than the brass bikini?!
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Quote:What "prequels?"

This. There really is no reason to even bring the prequels to the table.

My kids and wife are better for not having to have seen them. I unfortunately have been exposed. And while I have chosen to pretend they don't exist, I can't fully forget them. But I'm not going to subject any newcomer to star wars to those prequels, which I have decided are not cannon.

I like the concept of the machete order. But if your gonna leave out episide 1 because of its superfloiusness... Then ep. 2 and 3 can be dumped for the same reason.

The prequels are a blue screened cash grab that is littered with bad acting, terrible script writing, bad plots, and dialogue that porn screen writers would be ashamed to jot down.

Save yourself the time and dump the prequels all together. The folks you are saving from the prequels will have have lost nothing by missing out on them, and probably will enjoy the universe of star wars more without having to be subjected to the campy nonsense of the prequels.

Watch them in order of release, and after some time rewatch them 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6.

There's no reason not to watch the prequels.  While they may not be perfect, 5 and 6 are actually watchable and provide a good back story to the story line to 1, 2, and 3.

My son loves Star Wars and he's 4.  Can't wait to take him to Disney and do the Jedi training....he may flip out when he fights Darth Vader.

Its either Kylo Ren or the Seventh Sister now. If you want to meet n greet with Vader you can get the Chase Disney card and get private access at Hollywood Studios.

I think Harry Potter uses the same concept

Eh... There is plenty of good about ep 2 and 3. They are not great but they give good backstory after the big reveal of Vader. It works plenty fine. Comparing those 2 to ep 1 is like comparing 2 and 3 to 5.

flsprtsgod, I looked it up and they still have the Jedi training.  It's for kids of a certain age.  They take them on stage in front of the audience, "teach" them how to use a light saber, and then Vader comes out.  They have to fight him and they scare him off.

It's a good story with horrible execution.

They changed out Vader for the other two I mentioned when 7 came out and renovated the show into Trials of the Temple. They can put twice as many kids through it that way. Vader moved over to Star Wars Launch Bay that used to be the Animation Courtyard. Now you can meet Chewie and Kylo plus see all kinds of exhibits and a movie at that end of the park.

If you have time, there is this YouTube guy that basically breaks down the prequels in a way that is not only hilarious but spot on... They are each about a bit over an hour long, but are quite entertaining to watch... It's called "Mr. Plinkett reviews (insert title of a prequel here)"

It's worth the watch if you have some time and want a good laugh.

Quote:Question:  If you were to introduce the Star Wars movies to an individual who had never seen them before, would you present them in the order originally shown (IV, V, VI) first, or would you show them chronologically (Prequels first)?

Every fiber of my being tells me to show original trilogy first, then the prequels, but I can understand the allure of of a story told sequentially.

Sub question:  If you are inclined to show the original trilogy first, would you begin with Rogue One, or literally the original trilogy?

I'd show the original trilogy, then Rogue One.  After that I'd show them the prequels with the caveat, "These were written by and for middle schoolers!"  But, they're a fun romp anyway.

Rogue One was so good. But you definitely need to see the original trilogy to really appreciate it

I've seen them they are pretty funny.

In the same vein there is a guy that did a video on each prequel titled "what if star wars episode 1 was good" and then one for ep 2 and 3. He rewrites all three and it's pretty compelling. You'd probably like it.
