Is WR THAT bad?!?
|
Quote:They are being coached by the best WR coach in the business. I hear ya, Sullivan is supposed to be the best in the biz... But he didn't single out 1 WR. He basically called out the entire corps.... I think my logic is fairly sound here... I know that in my business that an outlier is something we all have to deal with. But when a unit is lacking in production, the manager comes under scrutiny. That's all I'm saying. Now Sunday may just be an abberation, but it's just something I thought about. I'm not saying it to indict the WR coach, or even the OC (well maybe the OC a little :teehee: ), I just found the statement interesting. Not to mention the fact that he called out the WR corps, and is still pretty positive with the QB who also had a pretty atrocious day... We show less advertisements to registered users. Lee and Robinson will amount to nothing. Their lots were cast when they chose 11 and 15. Hurns, on the other hand, is a disappointment. He's wearing 88; he should know better.
Quote:Apologies if already posted.I wonder if the WR's not knowing their routes is why Henne is taking so many bad to's this year. I don't remember him doing anything like that last year. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. I wonder if any of the mental mistakes could have been due to frustration? We were only able to get 8 rushing yards from Gerhart. We converted just TWO third downs all game. They never had any sustained drives, which meant they never had much time to get into rhythm.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

In fact, the more I think about it, the more I think Blake should sit till the rest of the team decides to play. If Gerhart can't even outdo MJD's production from last year, than our team has much bigger problems than just Henne. Quote:I hear ya, Sullivan is supposed to be the best in the biz... But he didn't single out 1 WR. He basically called out the entire corps.... I didn't hear the quote, so I don't know if PFT is reporting on it accurately, but assuming they are, Bradley singled out three receivers; Lee, Robinson, and Hurns. Interestingly, Mike Brown, who proceeded to drop every pass thrown to him last Sunday, was not mentioned by Bradley (again, assuming PFT isn't misrepresenting Gus' words). I think that the lack of Brown in Gus' comments is telling, because Brown is a converted QB. Sullivan's main job with him should be, and most likely is, to make sure he catches the ball. Brown struggled last Sunday and has been, generally, inconsistent this year (pre-season through today) with catching the ball. Yet, he was specifically omitted from Gus' criticism. I think that indicates that Gus isn't as upset with the coaching as he is with the three rookies. If Gus' comments were directed towards the coach, I imagine he wouldn't have named every active WR, but the one who seems to be visibly struggling with picking up the coach's teachings. This idea makes sense in my head, but I'm not sure I'm conveying it appropriately... Do you understand where I'm going with this? Also, as one last disclaimer, this whole post is predicated on the idea that PFT isn't misrepresenting Gus' words, and Gus really did single out Lee, Robinson, and Hurns, while omitting Brown.

I'm holding out judgment on the WRs until we play a QB that can get the ball to them.

Henne hasn't turned the ball over a lot this year. He had that fumble at the end of the Philly game, and he threw a pick against Washington, but it isn't as though he went all Garrard/Schaub on us. At least he hasn't yet....this year. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that it can take awhile for WRs to figure it out at the next level. They'll start to get it later in the year. Sucks for the QB.

When the QB pumps, pats the ball, and pulls it back down, and gets sacked as a result, it stands to reason the QB and the WRs are not on the same page. We can only guess who was at fault. The veteran QB, or the rookie WRs? It stands to reason it was the WRs, since they are rookies, and especially since the head coach said it was the WRs, and one of the rookies (Marqise Lee) himself admitted he was unsure what to do against a lot of coverages in that game.
So to continue to blame these sacks on Henne is just pure stubbornness in the face of a mountain of evidence. Quote:what will the coaches tell you to believe next!!?As opposed to you telling us what to believe. I mean you are so qualified. You can analyze the game based on two screen shots. The stupid coaches spent days doing that simple task. |
