Mallett to the Texans
|
Quote:Considering the price Mallet went for it seems ridiculous to believe any other team in the league had any real interest. A conditional seventh rounder in two years is as close to nothing as a trade's value can be. Not just a conditional 7th rounder, but a conditional 7th rounder in 2016.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote: Bill just out Belacheated,Belechick! Belechik was about to cut Mallet... he at least got something rather than absolutely diddly squat for that bum.

Quote:LOL the losing side always denies they had interest. "Losing" side? Whether Dietz and Watson or Boar's Head... we're still talking ham sandwiches.

The funny thing is New England usually gets the better end of these deals. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Belechik was about to cut Mallet... he at least got something rather than absolutely diddly squat for that bum. You know darn well Belacheat tried to get a trade done months ago. Bill sat back and waited till Belacheat had no choice but to let him go for what amounts to a ham sandwich. Win for Bill. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote: You know darn well Belacheat tried to get a trade done months ago. or, the more likely case, was there was no interest in mallett because he has done jack squat in the nfl and looked bad every preseason, so the pats staff probably tried to put him in every postition to succeed to enhance his trade value. he was going to get released no matter what so the patriots at least came out with some value.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Since it's common belief that the Pats win these trade deals, and they were content to get a 7th rounder for Mallett, I think that speaks volumes about what they think he's really worth. The fact that they got something for him when they were probably going to cut him is a smart move by NE, and hopefully it turns out to be another mistake by a division foe.

Quote:Maybe they think they can get something out of him. Thing that confuses me though is: Those two items are what makes absolutely no sense to me. What was Houston worried about? I could probably trump a 2016 Conditional Seventh with the stuff I have laying around in my garage. And even if he did hit the wire, they have first dibs!!! I guess that Seventh Round Selection was just burning a hole in Rick Smith's pocket or something.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Quote: You know darn well Belacheat tried to get a trade done months ago.don't know how much of a win that is, but it does seem that Belichick was probably asking for way too much to start with, and possibly could've got something a little higher back in May end of day, pretty much just another bad draft pick by Belichick, good thing for him, he still has Brady
Quote:don't know how much of a win that is, but it does seem that Belichick was probably asking for way too much to start with, and possibly could've got something a little higher back in May For a seventh round pick two years from now? Thats a heck of a deal when you have questions at QB. Malletts knowledge of Bobs system is a big plus as well. If Savage and Mallett suck? At least we'll know it by next year and we'll have to give up the farm for a high pick QB.
Quote: For a seventh round pick two years from now? Thats a heck of a deal when you have questions at QB.how is that a heck of a deal when he was gonna get cut anyways? not saying it was a bad deal for texans but it was hardly a steal
Quote:how is that a heck of a deal when he was gonna get cut anyways? The guy was a projected first round pick until his off field antics knocked him down to the third round. Since being in the NFL he has shown none of his college antics. Even if he doesnt pan out you still got a potential first rounder for a seventh. Thats pretty much a steal. Especially when the guy already knows Bob. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I think the fact that New England was happy with a 7th tells you all you need to know about the first round potential Mallett entered the league with.
There are quite a few first round talents who weren't. We've proven that here in Jacksonville many times. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:I think the fact that New England was happy with a 7th tells you all you need to know about the first round potential Mallett entered the league with. They had no choice,he would have been a free agent and they would have got nothing for him. So they dealt him for what they could get. I'm not saying the kid is going to be a world beater, but he's definitely worth the risk for a seventh two years from now.
Quote: Even if he doesnt pan out you still got a potential first rounder for a seventh.you could've got an actual 1st round pick with Gabbert for a 6th round pick, that would've been a steal too, right? if BOB thought anything of Mallett he would've offered a higher pick months ago so he could've went to camp to compete for a job, this is nothing more than desperation it seems |
