Quote:I believe you're right, but anyone saying the NFL is harder on drug tests than possible domestic abuse is wrong.

Personally I wanted Roethlisberger banned for life for his multiple rapes, but the fact of the matter is no matter how much the NFL wants to act like it cares about player behavior off the field what they really care about is keeping their elite athletes playing the game regardless of anything else.
"Possible" domestic abuse?  Your language, perhaps inadvertently,  reflects the state of semi-denial the NFL is in on this issue.  You say otherwise, but the leagues actions do not support the claim.   I, for one, believe abuse is a far more serious infraction than marijuina and should be disciplined accordingly.

You're right; keeping the stars on the field (generating revenue) trumps all.  Yet another example of how money adversely impacts the game.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Just curious, is punching a man in the face socially acceptable, or no?

In Georgia, he committed a felony with a potential punishment between 1 - 20 years in jail.

He received a 2-game suspension. His suspension just tells everyone that the NFL is OK with domestic violence. Knock your old lady out, and you get 2 weeks off work. Criminal is criminal so I don't care if they want to suspend for weed too, but it's clearly a victim-crime versus a non-victim crime.

I'd rather smoke a woman and punch Marijuana, but that's just me.

Still no and still a criminal action regardless of gender.

Man vs. woman, NFL linebacker vs. average guy off the street, 5th grader vs. 3rd grader, it's all still the bully mentality.  The greater the assailant's advantage in size, strength and physical abilities over the victim, the greater the transgression.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

I'd rather have a woman who is so hot she's already smoking, but that's just me.

I wasn't there to witness it happening and I didn't see a video of him beating her, just one of him dragging her around while she was already unconscious.

Also I just don't really care about the case so I haven't spent my time scouring the web for witness accounts.

If he really did beat her then I'm sure the NFL and the police of Atlantic city know it, but I don't like to get into declaring people guilty of things when I really have no idea.

Quote:Have the potheads stopped to realize that the pothead players elected union representatives who negotiated the punishment when said potheads decide that a blunt is more important then their career. Probably not. Actually, definitely not. That's pretty clear since the players signed off on those punishments for burning blunts the last time the NFLPA signed off on the latest CBA. Maybe they should collectively bargain punishments for cold cocking one's spouse in the future........ Then all lawbreakers will feel like they're being treated equally under the rules.

That's the part of this that nobody wants to admit to.  The players are the ones that signed away their rights on this.  If they wanted an arbitration committee on suspensions, they had to give something up on their end..and they chose not to.

Quote:Well Howdy, if you've read the reasoning behind it tell me what is faulty in that reasoning.

I have no problem with the punishment.

Now, do your usual and be two-faced. Goodell is too strict, blah, blah, blah. But this time you get to pretend to care about the NFL's stance on domestic violence. I've seen your past statements regarding Rice's wife, so I know your not concerned with her welfare.

Here you go Mr. Doody - give it your best self-righteous shot.

Brian, I know you are a liberal, and liberals have zero ethics and have no issue deceiving or stretching the truth....but flat out bold faced LYING now???

I've NEVER made ANY statements on Ray Rice's wife.

What the hell are you talking about!???

I guess its true that all the NUTS roll to the LEFT Laughing

Quote:The NFL believes it is a far worse crime to smoke marijuana than to punch a woman in the face.

Beat up a woman and only suspend players for 2 games or smoke weed and get a 4 game suspension.

Hope my children see this and realize its better to beat up women than to smoke weed. Keep promoting that thug life.

Thanks Roger.

How do you feel America?

It should be pointed out that the 4 game suspension comes for a second offense.  You have to get caught twice to get the 4 game suspension.

Oh, sorry, I read the rest of the thread and that point has already been made.

Man alive, what a ridiculous statement.  Maybe we should round up all the liberals and put them in concentration camps.
