Makes sense to me, give Bortles time to learn the playbook, Oline time to mesh, and then put Bortles in mid season?

In a roundabout way, yes.  But, this is something he's accustomed to already.  Henne is a tough guy who will take the beating and get up after every play.  He also has enough experience in the league to be able to avoid getting killed.
