I'm just glad I'm able smile and feel good for at least ONE week this season. I felt ZERO elation after our other wins this season.

I felt elation after the Colts win, but relief at best after the Bears win.

I think today was more about Bortles, and to be honest, I don't trust him to play like this consistently. He needs to do it again next week, then spend all off season studying the tape and working on whatever he did to be this successful.

I find it hard to believe that Bortles play turned around so graphically all just because Gus is gone. I am inclined to think that what Bortles did in this game he could have done earlier in the season. Why didn't he? He didn't improve mysteriously overnight I don't think. Was it really all about Gus to the point that Bortles was failing? Or was he tanking because of Gus? Who knows! All any of us can say is that the Jags looked like a different team today than we've seen and come to expect.

 

Nevertheless, one good win proves n o t h i n g... and it's too late to put together a string of wins. Two in a row doesn't really prove much either unless it's a situation where you knock two playoff contenders out of contention.

The tacks secondary was god-awful today. I'm sure that was a factor for Bortles, who is playing hurt still, by the way.

Yesterday was a lot of fun for all involved. There was no sense of panic or complacency from the team. The Titans had everything to play for and every unit made plays. This is the most complementary game the Jaguars have played since their 51-16 win over the Colts just over a calendar year ago. The difference being it took Gus almost 3 years to do it and it was the only complete game of his tenure. It took someone else with mostly the same team once.

I have to admit I've really enjoyed watching Marqise Lee absolutely destroy the predictions of his many doubters on this message board this season.

 

I remember "he's a low ceiling guy that can't catch contested balls and is best suited to the slot" from one of our prolific draft "experts" around here.
