The Case for Johnny Manziel

#21

I don't agree with the Tebow comparison's because I don't want to be in that category bwhahaha. I can't stand Tebow fans because they just don't understand the truth about him. Personally, I don't see the comparison's between Tebow and Manziel. I agree, some of the fanbase can be similar. But I think Manziel is getting a bad rap because of that. We all know he isn't perfect and is not a Luck or Brady or Manning. But, I think our team would be the best fit for him turning into something special. Unlike Tebow, he can throw the ball, he can run a heck of a lot better, and is a lot smarter than Tebow. I'm not going to jump ship on my team just because we don't take him, but I would feel a little bummed because I think he has a bright future with the right team. We are the right team.

Wherever he goes you need to see him play in person just once. Pure greatness and a far shiftier runner than any QB like "Power play" Tebow. I didn't use Barry Sanders for nothing. This kid makes fools of tacklers not only with his feet, but his eyes, the ball, his head and most importantly his point guard quickness/change of direction. On top of that he throws better on the run than anyone in recent memory.

Just saying. It's different in person. Win or lose you will want to just go watch him play to see what rabbits he pulls out during his next magic show.  There's a reason Jon Gruden likes the kid. -"Did you just see Johnny Football man!"

And why don't we just use the word reinvent? You'll see.

PS-Tebow had a defense, Johnny didn't and still managed to break a lot 40+ year old SEC records with arm and legs.

If we select Manziel, who's he throwing to next year?   I think we'd have to target some big receivers or pass catching TEs.

This is my argument to you all. Why not like a guy because of the fan base (and it's honestly no where near the likes of Tebow. Tebow fans = nut jobs)? I can understand your arguments if you think he just simply can't play. That's fine. Everyone has their opinion. But to not like a guy because of some idiotic fans. To me, that's not a good reason. I agree, there are some diehard JM nut ball fans. But I think it's a one for every 100 compared the the nut ball Tebow fans. My opinions on JM are strickly from my opinions. I could very well be wrong. I just trust my gut on this. Either way we go, always a jag!

Quote:Sorry Bill in Texas but you sound just like all of the Arkansas fans who bombarded this board after we drafted Matt Jones. Where are they now?
I haven't been able to put my finger on it, but this is the statement I've been looking for regarding Manziel. He does have his throng of A&M fans, much like Moonshine had his throng of Arkansas fans. In the end, Jones busted out. A rabid fanbase that doesn't actually follow through with its promises to fly out to games does not make a  draft pick successful.

We have 10 picks and this is one of the deepest WR drafts in a long time. CSIII, Sanders, and Lewis (yeah yeah, he has been a bust for the money so far, but he picked up his play I thought last year even with dreadful QB play, put an actual QB in there and he does some things).

Mike Brown had some nice plays last year too. Obviously he's depth but I don't think our WR corps is that bad. It's been much worse.

<p class="" style="color:rgb(41,47,51);font-family:Arial, sans-serif;">Manziel said he has heard nothing from the Texans and still has hopes of going first. But he mentioned Jacksonville several times in 20 min.

I'm looking forward to Johnny Manziel in teal. I will openly admit I wasn't sold on Johnny towards the end of last season but he's grown on me considerably. The kid's special and I'm on board the Manziel bandwagon. I've crossed over to the darkside. I will welcome him here with open arms. At least we'd finally draft a QB in the first with real success in college.

To me, I think some of hate for JM comes from the carry over from college football. We all know the south loves some college football. And the SEC is the best of the best. Personally, I take the NFL over NCAA all day!! I don't carry over hatred of a college athlete because they wiped the floor with my college team. I think some fans here might be doing this. They didn't like him in college or hated him because of what he did to their team; and carry it over here. If I'm wrong, let me know. But maybe, just maybe, this is where it stands. Maybe jealousy too (lol) because of all the lifestyle things he's been able to do. I don't know. I just don't understand all the personal hate/dislike he's getting (the stuff not pertaining to being a football player).

BTW, I read the NFL is discussing moving the draft back more next year???? What the????? Please no!! This "delay" is driving me crazy! lol

I am a gator fan and was not a supporter of drafting Tebow.  I am not a Texas Aggies fan and I am in support of drafting JFF.  Bring it on.  We probably won't but I would love it if we did.

I'm a Dawgs fan for college football.  But when those boys graduate, I'm pulling for the SEC players in the NFL.

Well, that and the fact that you're Teddy Bridgewater's second biggest fan on this board.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
