Crap like this needs to be discussed at a level much higher than twitter and message boards. This needs to be addressed by Mr. Lamping and Mr. Khan at the league meetings and with (God)ell.

 Now I know some of you are of the opinion that it shouldn't bother us or does not really mean anything but I'll argue otherwise. For years this has been happening and there is no doubt in my mind that it has had serious consequences on the perception of our team, nationally and locally. sometimes it stems from our own local media as well. With the knowledge that perception can quickly become reality  this incessant dogging of our team must stop.

 I implore all Jags fans that can,in a business like manner, to fight these wrong and uninformed folks when they see this stuff. Social media is a powerful tool when utilized correctly. Let them hear you.

 Don't take my above opinion to mean that all I want to see is a rosy outlook, just the informed truth will do, whether or not that truth be flattering or negative.

Personally I don't see the big deal...shut them up when it matters this season.  It is a little petty that the league allowed it on their own website but it honestly doesn't bother me.  Why doesn't it bother me?  Because I'm confident that this team will remain in Jacksonville.  I'm confident that we have a new owner that is committed to Jacksonville.  People can have their opinions on why he wants us to play a few games in London but Mr. Khan is building a brand...if the team can play well overseas that will do nothing but grow that brand.  This team can make it in Jacksonville and if we can start building some momentum and win a few games that would go a long ways to silencing critics.

Had the team made a similarly derogatory statement about the league, you know they'd be coming for their pound of flesh.  This is a great idea, although if there's a conspiracy theory, it would be the pick just before the 2nd Tinhorn pick, which would still be worth having.

I just don't think that the right people are aware of the serious nature of the uniformed journalism that is occurring on a large scale and how it is counter intuitive to everything that is being done locally to enhance the Jags perception. More people in 2 minutes read that stupid line than will ever see this thread.

 Maybe the only consequence that these folks can be subjected to is the overwhelming collective response by us that we will no longer tolerate their uninformed crap.

This is not lost, it has visibility in the Commissioner's office.

The first tweet to nfl pr guy, then to the Jaguars, then to Aiello has caused the dance of the pinstripes.

Expensive suits descend on IT to trace activity and into midmanagement offices

 

Commissioner we have an incident, someone in house published a "London Jaguars" slur on our site, it has been removed.

We have already received inquiries from the Jaguars F.O. and Fan Organizations.

I think most people here understand that the local media has done little in the past to diffuse the perception that the franchise is in jeopardy in Jacksonville.  But, I don't think that's the case currently.  I think most of the locals have slowly come on board with the notion that maybe Khan isn't intent on moving the team. 

 

As time has progressed, it has become clear he wants to do for Jacksonville what he's done in his own life.  He embraces the underdog role, and has proven that even the underdog can succeed with a plan, vision, and the right resources.  He may have wanted to buy a larger market team like St. Louis, but in the end, he ended up buying the Jaguars.  Rather than shop for a larger market, what he's trying to do is grow the local market to prove he can succeed here, and in the process, turn this market into something other than an afterthought. 

 

As his efforts to expand his presence in Jacksonville through local investments and expansion of his interests outside of football get more exposure, it's going to become clear to all those in the media that he sees this as a viable NFL market, and the team isn't going anywhere. 

 

There are still going to be those who want to perpetuate a myth, but they're becoming less and less prevalent in conversations.
