Could a Branch trade be in the works?

I think we go QB at 3 with developmental DL later in draft.

Yes. I don't have a problem with it. (in the post you are responding to I said I don't understand this move (now). Remember, that was also said before the Clemons signing....I don't understand how we fit all these DL into the rotation. Someone's not making the cut, or will be traded.....especially if they draft another DE high.

Branch showed some things last year in his first season working under Gus/Wash, there is literally no reason not to see what will happen with another offseason to learn under a guy like Clemons and continue the progress.
depends on what we get in a trade, id do it for a 3rd, maybe an early 4th

Injuries happen also. Gus always says they look to build the bottom of the roster also. Do you think they want Babin back or Abry Jones? Jones will have a chance to compete for a spot but probably won't make the team

Quote:So...

Leo: Clemons, Babin, Branch

UT: Marks, Ziggy

NT:Miller

LE: Bryant, Alualu

Seems like Mack would be the ideal pick now....

Ryan Davis? showed some potential.

Maybe this signals that they are/ were tipped off that the Texans are taking Clown.

I was somewhat agreeing with you that the DL looks basically filled here in March....

I guess this means there's still hope for MJD.

It does...and thats why I thought Willie Young ultimately signed with Chicago, because after we signed Clemons, I figured we were done at the DE position until possibly drafting someone.

I guess in the end they chose Babin because he knew the scheme and possibly a little better than Young at getting home as a pass rusher.

Its possible that Branch could be that guy since he's a previous regime guy.
The only way to get the best player available is to give yourself players to choose from. Last year, plenty of people (yourself included) were whining about the Jaguars' lack of pass-rushing options. Now you're whining because we have too many?!

Still don't think he was ever going to drop to #3....if Texans passed, St. Louis would trade out and someone taking him.

I think we should move onto the idea of 1 of these 3:

Mack: Start as OLB and learn from Clemons/Babin before transition to Leo

Bridgewater: If seen as franchise QB

Watkins: Replace Blackmon

If the Seahawks model has shown anything you can never have enough pass rushers. Constantly bringing fresh rushers off the bench is the best way to wear down an offense.

Seems like Caldwell will put focus on revamping LBs in the draft if Watson is used as a potential LEO. I don't mind Babin back, because its on a cheaper contract I'm sure. Like someone said earlier, this allows for flexibility in the draft. LB, OL, and maybe another DB will be added in the draft. Or we are trying to build a defense for a young qb.

We've got "room" to draft as many DE as we want.
