I agree, was just wondering what the d would look like with Byrd and Clowney. I think Jimmie Ward will be the best safety in this class, a pro bowler, and can be had in the 2nd. I am a Gator fan but I dont ever see Evans making a huge impact on this team, hopefully im wrong though.

Lol, wont happen, I think if he is there in the 3rd Dave jumps on him.  He is the best cover guy in the draft IMO, I think he can be a lot like Thomas.

 

CBS has him as there number 1 SS but I think he moves FS in the pros.

I'm skeptical of the draft projection as well. From NFL.com.

Lacks elite top-end speed.

But he ran a 4.47 at his pro day.

Byrd has proven to be an elite level ball hawk in his career....

 

thats more than I can say for some of the free agent DE's that are left on the market....NONE of them have been elite level at any point in their careers as pass rushers.

If we don't sign anyone else, we need to get a player of Byrd's caliber. He's not a Clint Session or Hugh Douglas. He isn't past his prime; he isn't injury-prone; he didn't just have one very good season. He's consistently good. I hope Caldwell makes this happen...
