It was obvious when DiRocco reported this a couple of days ago. Jaguars are looking for an impact player, pass rusher, Clowney or Mack.

 

Yup, not really news at all.  Martineau and others close to the organization (Boselli, etc.) have been saying this for some time now.  News to some, but not new news.

Why a team that knows it's not taking a QB high would fight to sign a guy who has never posted a passer rating 80 or higher for a season is beyond me.

 

I know the free agency QB pickings are slim, but there are definitely guys that will come free that could have been brought in to put up a better fight than Henne.

A league source tells the Florida Times Union that the Jaguars are unlikely to use a first-round pick on a quarterback after re-signing Chad Henne to a two-year contract on Friday.
 
There is increasing chatter that quarterbacks are going to fall in the draft, and the slides could be expedited if QB-needy teams like Jacksonville suddenly pull out of the derby. I like Mack but he would be 5th or 6th on my board, and I think picking him over guys like Clowney, Bridgewater and Manziel is drafting scared and trying to be safe, I remember Aaron Curry was suppose to be the safest player in his draft and look what happen there. I would rather draft Mack

Again, Khan said they could possibly draft 2 QB'S and they already knew then that they were going to try and resign Henne. It has zero impact. If they really like a guy in a round and represents value then they'll draft him. They are no more or less likely to draft 2 QB'S regardless of what they did with Henne.
