That's all he had.  Either way, if he fails, it should be for very different reasons than Gabbert.  They are nothing alike and completely different prospects.

Yeah no doubt that Bortles is better than Gabbert. The kid would probably start for us right away. I don't think he's better than Bridgewater though and I hope the texans select him

Still waiting to see this massive arm.  I have never seen him throw a deep ball without the receiver having to back pedal to make the catch.  I think his arm is extremely overrated.  I would say his arm is middle of the road compared to others in the NFL.  Not to mention his passes flutter like a shot duck.

I don't want Bortles. I have him as my fourth QB based on games that I've watched of him. He has the size, yes, but what else?

Strength in the pocket and poise in the pocket are two. Probably two of the most important.


He has a good enough arm and thats all that matters.

It would probably be bigger news if the Jags didn't meet with him prior to the draft. 

 

The Jags are doing their due diligence here, like they should be. Just like the other teams in the top 5-10 picks, I'd imagine.

He's not being ranked on his size alone.  He has more tools than Gabbert did coming out and had a much better collegiate career.  He's not afraid of contact either.

He doesn't have more tools than Gabbert.  His arm is weaker and his overall size and athleticism are the same as that of Gabbert.  Right now he is hyped up in the same way Gabbert was three years ago -- size and potential.  However, he is not skittish in the pocket and isn't afraid of contact, which are good traits to have.

I hate the Bortles-Gabbert comparison!!  The only thing they have in common is they both seem to shoot up the draft boards seemingly out of no where.

 

Bortles stands tall delivers his throws and doesnt shy away from hits and competition
.  And actually put up numbers in college (not that it means the world)

I can't say I agree.  He's more mobile and is way better in the pocket.  I don't see how someone could watch even one of Bortles' games and make a Gabbert comparison.  Other than the size they are nothing alike.

With Bortles, pocket presence and movement are considered strengths. Those (along with downfield accuracy) were always question marks with Gabs.
