My whole problem with Clowney

#21

Quote:Clowney shedded some bad weight in prepping for the combine and came in 8 or 9 lbs lighter than what he played at this year IIRC. He did what he had to do to get in shape for one of his job interviews. I think this whole "work ethic" thing has been blown way out of proportion.

Yup, but it's the off season and the NFL needs story lines.

I'm conflicted. Clowney and Blackmon have similar personality types, this can be showcased in interviews with the media. I'm just not sold on Clowney with the #3 pick. I think I'd rather take Bridgewater or Mack.

Sapp talking about players taking off plays?

Now that's hilarious.

If we picked Clowney, I can see Berman now shrugging his shoulders with that dumb look on his face saying, "Urrrr I dont knooooowww. They get Blackmon now they get Clowney? Urrrr are they in trouble???"

The same Sapp that said Michael Strahan isnt a first ballot HOF player, yea i'm sure im gonna listen to him

Willie McGinest said it best, he himself had 16 sacks his Jr. year but then got all the attention his Sr. year and only had 5 sacks

All this Clowney stuff is just people pilling on

Yup and GreeceMonkE said it best, every guy is not gonna be a gym rat and every guy is not gonna be the hardest worker on the team it can only be one, but does he come to work does he practice does he come to play, even Spuerier said in practice once the ball is snapped he goes hard and maybe to too hard.

Jad Clowney 21 Reps

Anything else you need to know?

This guy is no good, let someone else waste a pick on him.

Clearly you haven't worked out a day in your life. If you have, you'd know long arms=/=success on bench.

Where's the logic here?  Explain this please.

It shows he does not take his craft seriously.  He gets by with what he can, does not spend the time to get better.

I will even go a step further. Greg Hardy who is a DE of comparable size only did 21 reps as well

Yup guys with long arms, those are two guys I compare Clowney to, Hardy would have been a 1st round pick if he didnt have so many injuries

I can't agree with this. Combine numbers don't mean much in the overall picture. His really, really long arms hinder a large bench number. But the quick 40 time doesn't mean much either. No pads/uniform (still quick though for a big guy). My concerns are with his will to play each down and give 100% on every play. A top 5 pick needs to have this (i.e our previous bad picks (Matt Jones, Derek Harvey, etc). Can't miss on a top 5 pick (1st rounder really) or it could set us back further.

Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

Ok you don't have any logic...that's what I was checking. Thanks.

You can't really believe what you are saying right? Those numbers do not back up anything you said.
