Fred Taylor (1998): 264 carries, 1223 yards, 14 TD. 4.6 ypc || 44 receptions, 421 yds, 3 TD

Randy Moss (1998): 69 receptions, 1313 yds, 17 TD. 

 

So Fred had 1644 total yards, with 17 total TDs. Moss had 1317 total yds (4 rushing) and 17 total TDs. Fred got robbed.

 

 

Maurice Jones-Drew (2006): 166 carries, 941 yds, 13 TD. 5.7 ypc || 46 receptions, 436 yds, 2 TD || 873 yds returning, 1 TD

Vince Young (2006): 184/357, 51.5%, 2199 yds, 12 TD, 13 INT. 6.2 ypa || 83 rushes for 552 yards, 7 TD

 

So MJD had 16 total TDs, 5.7 yards per carry, over 2000 all-purpose yards, and almost 50 receptions, and got beat out by a guy with more INTs than passing TDs.

 

 

Bottom line: It's a popularity contest. The Jaguars are not popular.
