Hello, Jaguars fans. I don't know what are the rules here for fans of other teams, but I'm coming here in good mode and hope to have a good conversation with you.

 

First, I'd like to congratulate your team for 3 wins in a row, and 4 out of last 5 and being the "hottest team" in AFC. I think you will also win next two, maybe all three. Pretty impressive after a bad start to the season. I must admit, I don't know much about your team, but I know Gus (he's one of the reasons, why I'm here), I also always liked MJD and Blackmon (I hope he can stay out of troubles in the future) too last season, mostly for fantasy football reasons. Of course I also know some of the players, who were on our roster last season or in preseason like W.Blackmon, Lotulelei, Guy (Maybe I forgot someone). BTW, what are your thoughts about them? Are they playing good?

 

Honestly, I didn't always like Gus's playcalling as a DC and partially blame him for a loss in Atlanta in playoff game last year because of his "soft zone" defense in last 0:30 of the game. But other than that, he is a great guy and although Pete Carroll has the final word on defensive side, I strongly believe Gus has a big input in turning one of the league worst defenses to top 5 (or maybe even the best) defense in 1,5-2 years. Carroll always tought highly about Bradley and he was the only coach Carroll keep (on Monte Kiffin advice) from previous Mora regime, when he take over in 2010.

 

I always respect and like him as a coach and a person and wish him all the best, but was a bit surprised when he takes this job, because I think he could stay a year longer (maybe win a SB) and get an opportunity in a better situated team, but luckily for you he decides to go to Jacksonville. Nobody can guarantee a success in the league like NFL and it will take a time, but I strongly believe, Gus is the right man to turn your franchise destiny around.

 

And seeing some of the "condensed games" highlights over the last few games, I believe Bradley is starting to build something positive in Jacksonville and I see much similarities to our situation in Seattle 4 years ago. I don't know exactly what he says in his first press conference, but probably one of his words was "building through the draft". I was thinking about that and in Carroll's first draft in 2010 we take LT Okung and Earl Thomas (who is now for me the best safety in the league) in 1st round (thanks to Dallas we had two 1st round picks that year and that is one of the best things our former GM did). Sounds familiar?

 

There are also similarities in big number of transactions of "street free agents" as I called them. Leave no rock unturned, when you try to find a way to get your team better. Mostly cheap players, who will probably only stick around for a year or two, until better/younger players are drafted, but also always looking for diamond in the rough. As I already mentioned, you also take some of the players we cut and I believe Gus will try to take more in the future, but as you get better, there will be other teams in front of you on the waiver list. We now only have 4 players on the roster, who were there in year 2010, one of them is a punter. It's possible, Gus will do something very similar in next 3-4 years, if he stays that long (I believe, he will).

 

I've seen a thread about "tanking the season" and respect different opinions, but believe the only way to get better is to win games on Sunday. Bradley is Carroll's disciple and you probably already heard him talk about "Always compete" and "Win forever". It's important to create a winning culture in the organization and you can't do that when losing. We've been through something similar in Carroll's first year, when some fans wanted to tank the season (although in a bad NFC West that season we were still in a playoff race), so we could have better draft position to draft a "QB of the future". We had Hasselbeck back then, who had some good moments in 2010, but was on the end of his (effective) career as a starting QB. Last regular season game against the Rams had a playoff indication (NFC West was pretty bad that year) and we won with Charlie Whitehurst at QB (most of you probably don't know him), as Hasselbeck was injured. If we loose that game, we'd probably have No. 8 pick and could draft QB (maybe Gabbert, who our GM Schneider was apparently very high on - I believe he's the best GM in the league, but he would miss very badly on that one; or Locker, Ponder, maybe Watt, if we wouldn't draft a QB, I don't know), but we won and drafted at No.25. And the rest is a history. As a 7-9 team we hosted reigning champions Saints in wildcard game and beat them. I still believe Lynch's "beastquake" run was the most defining moment of our current team. After that game, fans and players started to believe, everything is possible. We still needed to wait for about one more year to find our QB, but it was well worth it. You don't always need to draft with 1st pick (or even first round) to find a good QB.

 

Probably I talk a bit too much about Seahawks, but I just want to remind you, that sometimes you need to be patient and of course, you need a bit of luck. We had it last year in the 3rd round. But there is also a lot of hard work in there from everyone inside the organisation. I believe Gus is a hardworker and will get the job done for you. I don't know much about his working relationship with your GM, but I hope it's good. That's a key to succes IMO.

 

I believe the worst part of "journey" is now behind your beloved team. It will be some up and downs through next season or two, but you will see on week to week (and then year to year) basis, how your team gets better. So just enjoy the ride and believe, that Bradley&Co. will find the right (and the best possible) QB and other missing pieces to make your team better. I will root for you because of Gus and our former players, but also, because I wish you can beat Colts in the near future on regular base. I didn't like them when Manning was there (although I respect him as one of the best QB's ever) and I don't like all those media hype around Luck nowadays (he's good, but not that good IMO).

There's little doubt from this prespective the Seahawks seem to be fairing much better without Papa Gus.

 

The imported players are typical of a new coach attracting some of his own guys in when he can. Will Blackmon flashed early on, but has faded away. The two guys with hair covering their name panels we got from Seattle are so-so. Guy seems to be drawing lots of praise from Papa Gus. Lotulelei has played spot duty here and there. Stubby sort, with some radar.

 

It didn't occur to me that Bradley was a left-over from Mora. Figures. There's more talk here about him being a former Bucs' assistant probably due to one of the former Tampa Bay players mentioning it while covering a game for FOX SPORTS.

 

Gus seems more like the lead mechanic of a Harley shop than an NFL head coach. Does that make sense? He likes to talk a lot. Says the same thing over and over.  He has a lot of distractions to overcome. We have a newbie owner that doesn't seem to know that packing up the team and flying to a foreign country for a "home game" is a pretty big distraction.

 

Many of our former players, including former Washington Huskie, Mark Brunell, believe that the team will be moved to London entirely in the not so distant future. Khan is distinguished himself as quite an unabashed Anglo-file. A lot of the original Jaguars players from the 1990s have been in and out since Khan took over. I think they can sense their legacy is about to be erased forever.

Jungle Cat, Mark Brunell never said he thinks we will move to London. He just said it would not surprise him. There is a huge difference. Name one former Jaguar who actually said he thinks we will go to London permanently.

 

Tom Brady will never lose the site of that Super Bowl win. Wayne Weaver specifically looked for someone who would guarantee the team stays in Jacksonville while interviewing potential buyers.

Probably O-line and WR. I can see Rice geting restructured his contract or released. We can't pay two $11M WR in run first offense. He's also injury prone and I'd rather resign Tate and Baldwin, who are more productive and healthy. So maybe you get Rice next year. Don't believe, WR is one of your priorities, though.

 

 

As far as the AFC until we get eliminated from playoff contention i'm rooting for the Jags! hahaha Second to us I really like the Bengals. Not really many people talking about them but they play very balanced offense as well as having a pretty good D.

I have talked with Tom Brady several times recently (I live in the Boston area)  and he has mentioned that he worries a lot about losing one of his Super Bowl sites. He's not sure he can go on if it happens but I reminded him of Wayne Weaver's promise and he seemed better.

 

BTW, Denver is led by a dome quarterback who chokes in big games. Give me football weather and a big game and I'll take Brady. Denver is arguably not the best team in the AFC. I, personally, would include the Bengals and the Patriots in the conversation and the Ravens may be sneaking up on everybody.

I think of the Seattle Seahawks as our "Older Brother" team. Far, far better and more talented than us, but we're adapting the same philosophy as them in terms of our head coach's attitude, and the development of our defense. Hopefully we can start to look as good as them in 2 to 3 years.

Of course. 2011 3rd rd. guard John Moffitt was traded to Denver this season and then he retired, because he didn't want to play football anymore. He's the biggest bust IMO. He is a funny guy, though and I still like him.

 

2013 draft is still to early to judge, most of them don't play (some are on IR), because we have too much depth. But they'll get chance next season.

 

I would love to have a team so deep and talented that your most recent draft picks can't get into the lineup in their rookie year.  Hopefully we have such a scenario in a few years.

This is false. Lotulelei got several snaps on defense this week. He is number 53. Easily recognizable by his lustrous mane. He made a nice play, tackling a ball carrier for a loss.

I get a feeling, you don't like Papa Gus too much. And yes, I must admit that I like our new DC Dan Quinn better than Gus. His playcalling is more agressive. It's also true, we have better defense this year, because we have more pass rushers. Last year we only have Clemons and rookie Irvin, now we also have Avril and Bennett, so Quinn can get more creative.

 

Gus as a mechanic of a Harley shop, lol. Carroll also talks a lot without telling too much, so they are similar. I'm happy, we gave him second chance in the NFL. He learned a lot during his time at USC. But for our recent succes, you also have to give credit to GM John Schneider. He's one of the best in the business. I can't believe, he didn't get Executive of the year award last season. What's better: drafting Andrew Luck with 1st pick or Russell Wilson in 3rd round? Yes, Colts were going from No. 1 pick into playoffs, but still. 

 

I agree about window for success for any team, although can't see us falling apart like Texans have this season. Not until we have Russell Wilson. We won't always win, but I can see us being serious contender almost every year. Also, I still believe Texans are talented team and with a new HC and QB can be the "next year Chiefs".

 

Selling the team to London is stupid idea. There will be too much travelling and I don't think many players would want to play for a London based team. But at least we wouldn't be a team, who travelled the most every year anymore.

It was not all Peyton's fault the Broncos lost at New England. DRC was injured on the last play of the half and did not return. That allowed the Patriots to erase the deficit. Tony Carter had his back to the ball and did not get out of the way when Wes Welker was yelling at him, so what should have been a simple fair catch was a turnover. No one who watched that game can honestly say Denver lost because of Peyton and the weather.

 

Peyton has been injured since his return to Indianapolis, but kept winning games anyway. He is so good he does not need to practice on Wednesdays.

 

I also expect the Packers to miss the playoffs and Panthers to make it even if they beat the Falcons.
