Pretty sure he took less money to go play for the tinhorns. But i would love to see him back i think he is the main diff. in why we cant run.

One of the few times it has happened - i.e., Stephen Jackson going to Atlanta - hasn't turned out very well for the Falcons.

Doubt there will be much of a market. Wouldn't be surprised to see him return.

I'd offer him 2 years at around 3.5 mil per year - possibility of more in incentives if he produces.    It also depends on what he does the rest of the way  - my offer is contingent on him playing more like he did vs the tinhorns.

I had thought this would be MJD's final season in Jacksonville, but given his lack of production and age, we may be his best option.  I can't think of too many teams he would start for, if any, so Jacksonville may be his best opportunity to start for one-two more seasons.

Doesn't he make less than that now? I believe 4.5mil is his number. A reasonable rate would be 2-3 mill per year. RB do not get paid like they used too, and he just doesn't move laterally like he used to. Although his punishing style and dragging people is starting to come back. I would want to keep him for a couple more years, but hey, I am a fan.

Because MJD has a history of great production, so maybe from a production standpoint, he is just having an off year.  Clearly, he's not as explosive as he used to be, but I think he is still capable of being a productive back if he had a viable backup to spot him carries -- again, kind of like the Fred Taylor situation back in 2006.

 

I remember Fred Taylor had an off year in 2005, which lead to him signing a big-ish contract in 2006, if memory serves me correctly.

I'd favor bringing him back on the cheap 2 year deal. Here's my reasoning:


He is the best pass blocking back in the league bar none. He has reliable hands and is still an effective safety valve.


Both are extremely important to a young QB, which we all know we'll have next year, although I'd like to have a young RB splitting carries with him on 1st and 2nd down.
