Terry Bradshaw

Quote:The last time I saw JJ he was doing those extendz commercials. There must be a joke in there somewhere.

I never watch the FOX pregame show. It's a bad show with too many yahoos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, JJ's probably still sore about that Jag beatdown in his last game. I can't really blame him though, that was quite a whoopin', the kind you never ever, ever forget.

I don't blame him for having some bias against the Jaguars. His career ended with a 62-7 loss in Jacksonville that featured benching Dan Marino lol.

I hate the Riggles feature at the end. Only the five analysts should be making game predictions.

The most important thing to come out of this thread is I can still watch Cannonball Run without hating TB. That is important.

Quote:In fairness to Terry Bradshaw,   I'm almost positive it was Jimmy Johnson who made the idiotic comment that was mentioned at the beginning of the thread.

Agreed, I thought it was JJ as well.  I actually heard it while walking through the concourse.  I was so annoyed that I stepped to the side, got on Twitter (which I rarely do), found good old JJ and sent him a not so nice tweet.

It annoys me the national media portrays us this way.  A friend posted a picture of the Miami stadium, terrible.  The Bucs stadium, terrible.  Oakland, San Diego, and other teams in the NFL have similar issues, if not worse in most cases and yet we are the punching bag.  The national media is terrible.

For someone with a national platform like Jimmy Johnson to say that the Jags should terminate their lease and move out of town- I am actually shocked at that.   That is really uncalled for.   He should apologize for that.   I'm serious.

And besides that, they couldn't use the 63 mil to terminate their lease, because 43 mil of it is coming from the city.   So his point was nonsensical.

The national media can suck a big fat wienerschnitzel. A really big, fat, long one. Like guinness book of world records sized.

The bias of most of the national media is sickening,   both with sports and non sports.    Your absolutely correct that singling out Jacksonville for lack of attendance and fan support is inaccurate for what's really going on.    The reality of the situation is selling tickets are a problem with many franchises in the NFL because of the economy and the attraction of large TV screen HDTV and other hi-tech ways of watching NFL games.

For those who don't like Terry Bradshaw as a broadcaster for whatever reason ( s ),   that's fine.    Yet,  I think there should be a huge separation when describing Terry Bradshaw and describing Jimmy Johnson.   To the best of my knowledge,   Terry Bradshaw never suggested on national TV or on any media outlet that a team should move.    Jimmy Johnson did.    Johnson crossed the line.   It's one thing to be critical of owners,  coaches,  and players.   It's another to attack a fan base without justification.    In essence,  Johnson made Jacksonville a punch line in his commentary instead of spending time and effort to understand the overall NFL dynamics of selling tickets and luxury boxes in this day and age.    For me,  remembering from a distance how much effort the city of Jacksonville put in to secure an NFL franchise,   for someone like Johnson to make a case that the franchise should be taken away,   he should be ripped to pieces.

Quote:You know, FOX should have taken the money they give Terry Bradshaw and just put a trained monkey in his place.  Then use the money to bring back 24.

(Or at least give a bigger budget to Sleepy Hollow.  Money better spent easily.  But I'm pretty sure his salary could be better spent on Sea Monkeys.)

24 ran its course.  Just got old after a while please dont bring it back.

While a little righteous indignation is good for the soul, it's not like these are award winning journalists saying this stuff. They are ex-jock talking heads, some of whom may be starting to exhibit signs of CTE.

Do you pay attention to anything these guys talk about? Why even watch? If you do watch, isn't it only for entertainment? If you don't take any of their babble seriously, why would you think anyone else would?

As Oesher keeps pointing out - this is what happens when you are 1-9, following a 2-14 season. All the news about the Jags is going to be pretty negative until they start winning. If/when they start winning we'll then get to see stories about "the tough fan base that stuck with them through thick and thin..." etc., etc.

Take a deep breath - we're tougher than they are.

I respect your opinion but view the situation at least somewhat differently.

There are many award winning journalists that have no business getting the award.   Yet,   the perception of them as journalists is greatly enhanced in a favorable manner because of the award.

Jimmy Johnson is a former NFL HC that had tremendous success in that role.   Jimmy Johnson's opinion is taken seriously by many.

My overall take is that Jacksonville has to be proactive when it comes to the inaccurate narrative that many around the country convey.   The more people hear something,  the more believable it starts to sound.     The damage that can be done before the Jaguars start winning,   if the false narrative continues,  can potentially be enormous.

I've always enjoyed your posts and I think your opinion matters. But Jimmy Johnson is a former coach - nothing more. He's not an owner or GM, so I doubt people take his opinions as anything more than opinions. And you know what they say about opinions.

Rant and rave. Send tweets and e-mails. Call the network. Do whatever makes you feel better. Defend the good 'ol hometown. All that's cool. But it doesn't really matter. One - most people living elsewhere don't really care one way or another. It's not their problem, it's ours. Two - the narrative has been set, a long time ago. Until the Jaguars become relevant again no one is going to pay attention. And three - all that matters is reality.
