I know you were. I was just asking a serious question......"With a real winning offensive minded coach say like Jay Gruden or Sean Payton, what's Bortle's upside?"

Probably high. But you're acting like Blake hasn't been a problem for this team all year.

I look at QB stats around the league. Simien, Osweiler, Alex Smith, Bradford and others and I don't think Bortles is a problem at all. He's 24 years old and has the worst head coach in NFL history. I think it's amazing he's actually throwing for 30-35 TDs and 4,000 yards with the worst head coach, terrible o line and worst running game in the NFL to be honest.

My opinion may be the minority but I don't care. Jags lose Bortles and he will start for another team easily.

Minnesota, Giants and Detroit are bottom 3 for rushing yards per game. Jags are 24th and rank 17th in yard per rush.

....just saying they are not the worst.

Hes been poor to say the least this season but hes really not the issue.

Everyone says his mechanics have went down hill and aren't fixable but they went down hill because of the coaching staff once we have a good coach and he (hopefully) trains hard as hell this off season I believe he will be back to where he was last season without a doubt. He's a competiter, I really do not this hes going to be stupid this off season

It would be a shame if we let him go and another team took him because i'm sure we will look like idiots once he lighting it up on another team

So the pick 6's, poor accuracy and lack of touch on the deep ball is not a problem?

You're delusional.

Let some other team waste their time teaching a big oaf the basics of throwing a football.

We can draft a QB in the mid to late rounds this year and be ahead of the curve development wise compared to Bortles.

So Bortles hasn't been an issue this entire season? Do you even watch the games?

C'mon man, you really think Hackett and Olsen told Blake to start dropping the ball below his waist, start throwing off his back foot, lean back on his throws, and to not follow through?

The coaching staff didn't make his mechanics fall apart. He got lazy and didn't work on keeping his somewhat improved mechanics intact, or god forbid improved again since they were better but still not good last year. That's on him not the staff.

It certainly is on him in the offseason to keep himself up.

But when he shows up that way day one it's certainly on the coaches to address it with him.

I'm not saying the Jaguars are the worst rushing team in the league, but if you take out Blake's runs the yards per rush go down dramatically. If your point is Blake is bad then you really need to find another argument than "the Jaguars rushing game is fine," because it's not.

space was just waiting for a game in which Bortles wasn't one of the biggest issues for the game and the defense slipped back again.

The past 2-3 games before Buffalo, the defense was playing really well, and Bortles was struggling. Even in the Buffalo game, the defense was fantastic in the 1st half (they would've likely pitched a shutout if not for that ridiculous re-kick of the punt and a return to nearly the Jags 20 yd line).

Bortles played decent in the Bills game. He didn't have many yards, but he led a few nice drives, used his legs for some really nice plays, and was throwing the ball better than the past few weeks.

Cue spacecoastjag after that, lol.

I'll give space some credit though. He's a bona-fide Bortles fan no matter what.

The clown was surely banned, and I'm pretty sure I remember the post that did it. Shame too, since this was around the time Bortles decided he wanted to add pick sixes to his crappy QB repertoire.

If he was banned, I'm almost certain he made up for it by trolling BBC's Facebook page with his "Bortles is the greatest young QB in the league" shtick.

The Buffalo game showed us that Blake's natural ability doesn't come from being a pure pocket passer.  Hackett's letting him run more, and I think that's a great thing.  It doesn't excuse his poor mechanics or accuracy, which definitely need to be fixed.  But maybe we haven't been using him properly.

Bortles has to learn to be a more efficient passer. He has to make the plays when they count which he rarely does

One of many challenges for Blake Bortles and the Jaguars coaches is going to be adjusting to opposing Defenses very likely being more aware of what Bortles can do as a runner and preparing accordingly.

For Bortles to be successful long term,  there's no question his mechanics and accuracy are going to have to be much better than they have been most of this season.   If I'm in the position of Wade Phillips,  Mike Zimmer,  and other coaches responsible for preparing to defend the Jaguars Offense the remainder of this season,  there's no way Bortles is going to win with his legs outside the pocket.

I don't understand why the coaches are catching so much flak for Bortles' mechanics. He's a NFL quarterback for crying out loud. His mechanics shouldn't be THIS crappy at this level. His garbage mechanics should have been fixed in highschool. We shouldn't of drafted someone who can't throw at the NFL level. If someone has to be babied as much as Bortles does just to throw basic passes that every other QB can make it's not worth it.
