How could Henne possibly be worse than Bortles at this point?

#21

Putting in Henne changes nothing about the direction of the franchise.

Blake needs to be better or he should be replaced.  Quickly.

That guy isn't Henne, though.

Blake needs the opportunity to turn it around.  If he doesn't, he's gone.

Henne plays no part in the equation.

People's ability to manufacture the past is amazing.

What a distorted lens we choose to employ.

Quote:The last time Henne was the starter this team was dealing with a roster that was nearly devoid of talent due to Clean Gene. Current O-Line play and receiver talent are far better than when he played for us.

I think that we have already seen that there is not question that Del Rio is a far better coach than Bradley and it even looks like Mularkey may be a better coach than Bradley. The problem with the team back then was a complete lack of talent overall.

I am not saying that Henne is our QB of the future. He is a solid NFL backup but I think that right now a guy who is a solid backup QB by NFL standards is superior to what Bortles is bringing. I also think the time off will help Bortles.

The last time Henne was a starter he had ARob, Lee, Hurns, Shorts and lost:

34-17 to Philly

41-10 to Washington and was sacked 10 times

And down 30-0 at half against Indy before Blake came in.

No, Henne is in no way, shape, or form better than even this year's Bortles.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

No he is not. He will still get paid but he won't be coaching here next year.

There's no real value to the franchise by putting Henne in.  Give Allen game time at this point.  Let the kid play the last 4 games and the Jags will have some regular season film on him for off-season evaluation.

People need to gain some perspective.

Blake is struggling, obviously.

Other QB's have as well, and come back to get it together.  Drew Brees comes to mind.  Carson Palmer comes to mind.

By the way.....their organizations gave up on them as well.

Matt Ryan.  Eli Manning.

Heck, Big Ben's 3rd and 5th years were awful.

Alex Smith.  The list goes on.

Let the kid fight through it.   He's the same age as Carson Wentz for crying out loud.  Should they give up on him?  #2 overall, struggling mightily now (10 seconds ago he was the next Favre, now he's garbage, of course) and I guess it is time to move on.  What is he, 3 months younger then Blake?

Those QBs struggled...but they at least threw a decent ball.  I've honestly never seen a QB throw a worse ball than BB.

Have you seen my baseball?

All I want is to see Allen. We already know BB5 and Henne are terrible. Lets the rook play.

Anyone who has seen Henne play knows he'd find a way to be worse than Bortles.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Henne is able to win some games.

But we need a high position in the next draft, and we will destroy another young guy's career with the inability to developp players in Jacksonville.

Blake sucks but Henne sucks worse.

Move along.

As superfan32 pointed out, none of those guys you mentioned were throwing ducks.  Bortles passes are actually starting to look worse than Tebow's passes and I honestly did not think that was possible considering how bad he got in the last couple years.

Bortles said in an interview that he is "not a natural thrower of the football".  Why the heck is even playing QB after saying that?

Bench him and put someone else who is a more natural thrower of the football in.

If that happens then you put Allen in.  This season is over.  It is time to start working on the draft and finding out what we have.  Bortles needs some time off to work on his mechanics or something but he does not belong on the NFL football field.

If Henne is worse then he does not belong as a back up.

Of course, if Henne is worse than Bortles is currently then we have a problem because that means that the GM is just as big an idiot as the HC and both guys need to hit the road.

Remember the days where we couldn't get a first down?

Those were the days where we had Chad Henne as QB.  At least with Bortles we'll get past the 50 yard line.  Sure, it'll probably end in a pick 6, but that just brings us back the ball.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

The only reason Henne is our back up is because it causes no pressure on Blake, if that guy was your back up would you ever worry about your stating spot

Yep ..... one big happy family under the Gus regime.

A few games ago, the announcers criticized the fact that Bortles has had no competition that would place him in a pressure to perform type position.

The only reason Henne is our backup is because there were no better options available.

Who were we supposed to bring in?  Luke McCown?  Did you forget HIS time here?  RGInjury?  I could maybe see an argument for Hoyer over Henne.

Why waste time with Henne, you know what you got there, he's complete trash. I'd rather they put in Brandon Allen, see what if anything they got with him or keep it trucking with Bortles.

Continued losing is what this team needs right now.

I can't believe we're here rehashing this same half-decade old argument about whether or not Henne is worse than what we have starting currently. I just can't believe it. This is as low as it gets for me.
