Trust me I watched him every play he was lined up on purpose to see what he will look like, and he beat his man quit a few times, no DE is gonna beat the LT/RT every play thats just not realistic, I think he was chasing Jimmy out the pocket more then any player last night, he got one QB hit, other then that he forced him the leave the pocket a lot.

On Garrapolo's 4th down TD. Fowler actually beat a double team, if not for a missed holding call by the official he gets the sack on that play. Dude was chasing sideline to sideline, looked like he was hustling and disruptive.

Dont get me wrong he still looks a little raw and needs better technique, but you dont just cut a guy with athleticism like his.

I re-watched it, and he did get some pressure at times, and did chase the QB out of the pocket a couple of times, but he also committed a pretty flagrant personal foul, blow to the QB's head, that was not called. Should have been a 15 yard penalty if the refs had been alert.

Yeah, the thing I found frustrating was that he got pressure on several plays but it always seemed that they got the completion anyway.  I'm hoping that changes with Ramsey and Bouye on the field.

I don't think you can judge Fowler's performance, or the pass rush in general in that game when our top 3 corners were not playing and locking up receivers.

Graded at a high level by PFF, had a lot of hurries and was chasing Garapollo around all night long. Had a couple big hits in the open field, and you're telling me he sucked and shouldn't be on the 53 man roster? You'd rather keep UDFA's over Fowler? This message board is worse than ever...

I'm surprised their was no contain or edge pressure to sack Garapollo once Fowler flushed him to the side for the 5th time. If Fowler and Yannick are consistent at flushing QB's out of the pocket, that's where QB mistakes come into play. Our secondary will get a lot of interceptions from that.

There were so many holding calls missed on the NE O-line, I literally lost count. Some of our guys were getting absolutely mugged out there. Not a sniff of a flag.....

I think the time is coming where we have to ask, should this guy be on the team?   It's a 53 man squad, if Fowler is one of the 53, who is the 54th guy, the one who gets cut because we decide to keep Fowler?

He looks like a bust to me.   Sorry to say it.

Fowler was OK. Not bad. Not great. I still have some hope that Hobby is slowly getting him coached up.

I didn't feel alarmed in any way by his performance.

I'm not ready to give up on Fowler just yet. From my perspective, he's just starting to figure things out. I know he's a hot head, but I can forgive him immature antics if he starts getting to the QB.

The dude simply has to decide that he wants to be a pro, not just play professional ball. If he does not care or concern himself with that all else he has shall go to waste. I hope the best for the Jags sake and because the talent could be next level with him.

Some of us called it from the start. He was never one to shed a block at UF he was always a speed guy. If he couldn't beat the blocker on speed he was isolated out of the play.

Now add a knee injury and the odds are against him being more than just average at best.

Yeah....

I don't get the guy jumping to make a thread without having watched the guy's performance.

Puzzling.  A weird agenda, and an anti-jag player type of deal that makes little sense.

If Fowler doesn't cut it at DE this year I see him moving to SAM.

Like Blake, I am not ready to commit to him nor give up on him. But this year is obviously critical to both.

I thought he looked better than  last season.  Frankly, it's a bit early to write him off.  Had this crowd watched JJ Watt his first full season, I'm sure they would have written him off as well.

Not saying Fowler will ever be a JJ, but I do believe it's premature to write him off after one season, especially considering that season followed a significant injury.

I did watch the guy's performance.   After everyone disagreed with me so strongly, I went back and watched it again.   I didn't see much different from what I saw the first time.   A lot of hustle, but no real results, other than a personal foul that wasn't called.   He hit the quarterback in the head and somehow the refs missed it.

I admit the guy hustles, but it seemed to me that if the OT got his hands on him, he was locked up and it was over for him for that play.

For me he's always had the talent and ability. He's a good athlete for his position. He just seems to lack a lot of maturity and discipline on and off the field apparently. And that's my only knock on him at the moment.

We gave him a pass last year because he didn't play in 2015. 2016 wasn't great for him but it was his rookie year essentially. Hopefully this year he's able to hone some of his techniques and he's able to get home more in the backfield.

I don't want to see him fail. I don't want to see any of our players fail. Especially when they're former third overall selections. The idea that he needs to be cut though RIGHT NOW entering his third year with really only his second year of actual football at the age of twenty-two is pretty foolish though.

You can justify the reasoning behind Bortles in year four. But you can't justify the reasoning behind Fowler in year three given his overall playing time. People were quick to give up on Clowney and he ended up keeping that defense elite without Watt playing at all last year.

Not saying Fowler is Clowney. But there's at least hope that he can effect the game in a good way in 2017.

My thing is that I keep hearing other players saying that Fowler is really starting to pick things up and is much improved. So with that I'm willing to forgive his misbehavings to see what he's got, but I do hope these other players are being honest and not just telling us what they know we'd want to hear.

Its not just other players, even the head coach said he was doing a good job, and other guys on the radio like Lageman saying he is having a better camp then last year.

The fans that are already down on him dont see him getting sacks and they say he sucks, I mean come on it was only one half of a game thats been played so far. Then we have people like the poster above saying they saw him hustling but no results, well what the hell else you want him to do, he's out there busting his butt every play chasing the QB its not gonna end in sacks all the time.

Here's a good article on Fowler by Dirocco:

http://www.espn.com/blog/jacksonville-ja...-the-field

At a minimum he's shown improvement vs the Bucs from last year to this year.
