Russia claims to have been in contact with Trump campaign

#21

It's criminal what has happened to foreign relations since Reagan.

James Baker had Palestinians and Israelis sitting at THE SAME TABLE.

The door was shut on the Cold War.

Now, we have to repair what our meek and weak, unpragmatic "leadership" has ignored and mishandled for far too long.

It's fine for Donald to talk to Putin AFTER the election.  In fact, it's both encouraged and encouraging.

It's not fine for Donald to be chatting with the Kremlin BEFORE the election, especially in one where there are allegations of the Russians being involved in the Wikileaks hack.
He wasn't talking to the Kremlin.

He and HILLARY'S campaigns were talking to members of the US Russian embassy staff.

Interesting how Slate didn't bother to mention the Clinton contact. Nothing slanted there.

Scroll up and click it.  I'm not going to post it a second time.  Once is sufficient to expose your willingness to rely on far left wing publications who clearly omit key details from their reporting.

Bloomberg's a better source than Slate, true.  When you put you link in a shouting font, it's actually harder to see, BTW.

Donald asked the Russians to hack the other candidate (on live TV, no less), they complied, and there will be a quid pro quo coming.  Hey, maybe it's not the worst thing in the world, especially if you don't live in the Ukraine.  Every U.S. President has had to deal with despots, and perhaps this is for the best.

I would be much more concerned with the actual millions given by the Saudis to Hillary's campaign than by either of them 'talking' to a foreign country. Seems like the money would be a bit more influential, don't you think?

“Saudi Arabia always has sponsored both Republican and Democratic Party of America and in America current election also provide with full enthusiasm 20 percent of the cost of Hillary Clinton’s election even though some events in the country don’t have a positive look to support the king of a woman (sic) for presidency,” the report quoted Prince Mohammed as having said.

Just as Bloomberg is more reliable than Slate, there's gotta be a more reliable information source than zerohedge.  If Hillary really did fund her campaign with Saudi money, it would, and should, land her in jail.  My guess is that source is, er, not the best.  Typing it into google reads like a who's who of drifter sites, too.  I've seen too many of them debunked to believe them anymore.

It is fine. If the Russians were involved in Wikileaks hacking the emails of scumbags, I'm all for it. Thank you Russia.

That isn't speculation that Saudi money funds the Clinton campaign. That's a verified fact

I'm sure they were.

But here's the crazy thing:  I don't think it made a difference.  I don't think Comey's 2nd investigation made a difference.  In another thread, I summed up her surprising loss to 3 factors that I'm sticking to.

No one really likes her, no one wanted a 3rd Obama term, and she ignored the Rust Belt.

If you can't beat a guy that spent 17 months saying the outrageous things Donald did, a little Russian influence won't change the calculus.

The best I could find was that the Saudi government, and others, gave to the Clinton foundation.  I know the right wing blogosphere likes to link Clinton foundation and Clinton campaign, but I can't find anything on it that doesn't scream alt-right when I type it in the browser.

I'm not going to get into the foundation/campaign argument in this thread.  This one's about Donald and the Russians, and when the smoke clears, I fully believe he's in with them.

And again, ultimately, I don't think it mattered.

True, and it's still doesn't matter.

It just seems like the implication is that because Trump was in contact with Russia, he must be a Russian operative sent here to take over the country. Its just such a stupid idea. Talk about conspiracy theories... That's a doozy.

He didn't ask the Russians to hack anything.  The emails in question had already been hacked.  Whoever did it, and there's every indication that it wasn't the Russians despite Hillary's lies to the contrary, was encouraged to release the emails. Remember, to "hack" those emails would be an admission that they weren't sufficiently deleted using Bleach Bit.  And the outrage the Clinton campaign faked about that incident told a very interesting story.  They said that Donald asked for these emails to be hacked, but they had long since been hacked.  They also said he was threatening national security.  Well, unless yoga class and wedding planning talk is a threat to national security, those emails were harmless...unless of course they contained classified information, which we all know they did.

The thing I find funny here is that you and others of your ilk were more concerned about who hacked the emails than the content of those emails that have been released.  It exposed a systematic, pervasive level of corruption and collusion between the Clinton campaign, the DNC, and outside PACs as the coordinated their attack on Trump.  .It completely exposed illegal activity in that interaction, and all you and others like you care about is blaming it on the Russians.

The Russians spoke to both campaigns BEFORE election day.  That's a fact.  This wasn't some coordinated effort that was one sided as your Slate article attempted to spin it.  I'm sure both the Trump and Clinton campaigns spoke with several leaders around the world at some point as they built their case for winning the highest office in the land.  If they didn't, I'd consider that a dereliction of duty.  Keep your fingers crossed for something nefarious.  Ain't happening.

Does anybody care about the emails anymore. Hillary is history. Her political career is OVER! She has failed and is as relevant as Sarah Palin. A SNL side show!

She is an important case study tho in how politics really works. Thanks to her and wikileaks we have a lot of proof of the corruption that is present in politics. At least half the country now realizes this is a problem and not a conspiracy theory. I doubt anyone is silly enough to think she is the only politician to operate how she does.
