That was his best year. Now if you wanna talk about 2004 then you might be right. (10-08-2017, 10:59 PM)leopold332002 Wrote:(10-08-2017, 10:28 PM)SamusAranX Wrote: What a load of garbage. Garrard threw less int in that entire season than Blake has in his first 5 games. Its ridiculous to compare them. Blake had one great season throwing the ball, but he has never been able to lead us to wins like Garrard did. Jimmy Smith had 295 vs a preeminent elite defense that was on their way to a Super bowl title...
So yeah, we're elite!
Making up
Evidence Depending on Information Available
Bortles is doing okay with what he has. The decision making and athletic plays are pretty useful. He made the throw in OT to beat the Jets but Lee dropped it. Then O'Shaughnessy lost the ball pushing for a first down on a fluke play that counted as an INT. Don't dismiss the 4 TD performance against the Ravens who again today looked like a good defense. And we're missing our #1 target on IR. He's doing alright with what we are asking of him. I know it isn't flashy or good to look at on paper but it's okay for now.
No pain, no gain.
Where’s Malik Jackson? He’s been a ghost. Is he seeing constant double teams ?

The defense is:
1st in the league in turnovers 1st in the league in sacks 1st in the league in TDs 2nd in the league in Opponents Points Per Game 3rd in the league in Opponents Yards Per Pass Attempt Despite not being good against the run, the defense is elite.

We just had a bad game against the Jets, where guys got out of their gaps and allowed some long runs that skewed the stats. I attribute that to the fact that we were playing on the road just a week after playing in London. But against the Steelers, we fixed the problem and held the Steelers to just 70 yards.

In 2008, Garard lead us to 5 and 11 record. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Dude, the Jags had a top 5 defense with Garrard and all he could do was throw a slant. The reason the Jags were ALWAYS ONE AND DONE in the playoffs was because Garrard couldn't make all the throws. Bortles, although inconsistent, can still make all the throws and beat someone like the Ravens at any given time. Garrard was not good. Never was. For one, the Jags were not one and done in 2007 when they made the playoffs. Two, the Jaguars defense from 2007 through 2010 were never top 5. Not once. You got your basic facts wrong but then again you only post here as a Bortles fan so it wouldn't surprise me that you get such things wrong. Basically, this D is looking similar to Denver's D (high praise indeed): a lockdown secondary and a fierce pass rush that combined can stifle opponents. The best way to attack a fierce pass rush has always been to run right at it, I expect a lot of teams to start doing just that. This week against Gurley and the Rams will certainly put our Run D to the test. (10-09-2017, 09:10 AM)JagAU09 Wrote:(10-09-2017, 02:28 AM)JAXsonVIL Wrote: Where’s Malik Jackson? He’s been a ghost. They are not quite there yet. They struggle against the run, if they get more disciplined and keep their gap assignments they can do it. Our secondary is lights out the best in the league.
