Nope, Garrard was awesome in 2007. A very proficient game manager + QB. That was his best year. Now if you wanna talk about 2004 then you might be right.

Blake numbers are better than Garrards across the board and we're also running away with the division with Blake as well.

What is Blakes completion percentage? TD to INT ratio. Garrard threw less int in that entire season than Blake has in his first 5 games. Its ridiculous to compare them. Blake had one great season throwing the ball, but he has never been able to lead us to wins like Garrard did.

Bortles is doing okay with what he has. The decision making and athletic plays are pretty useful. He made the throw in OT to beat the Jets but Lee dropped it. Then O'Shaughnessy lost the ball pushing for a first down on a fluke play that counted as an INT. Don't dismiss the 4 TD performance against the Ravens who again today looked like a good defense. And we're missing our #1 target on IR. He's doing alright with what we are asking of him. I know it isn't flashy or good to look at on paper but it's okay for now.

I think we're fine against the run.   We just had a bad game against the Jets, where guys got out of their gaps and allowed some long runs that skewed the stats.   I attribute that to the fact that we were playing on the road just a week after playing in London.  But against the Steelers, we fixed the problem and held the Steelers to just 70 yards.

And all due respect David Garard never lead us to win it was the two-headed running back and the defense that let us to win in 2007, 2009, 2010. In 2008, Garard lead us to 5 and 11 record.

I think he has a fairly significant groin injury. He is playing with it, but it's sapping his lateral agility.

Bortles, although inconsistent, can still make all the throws and beat someone like the Ravens at any given time.

Might want to reconsider that statement. For one, the Jags were not one and done in 2007 when they made the playoffs. Two, the Jaguars defense from 2007 through 2010 were never top 5. Not once. You got your basic facts wrong but then again you only post here as a Bortles fan so it wouldn't surprise me that you get such things wrong.

I agree, the stats that made it look like we had a terrible run D were somewhat inflated by garbage time numbers (for example the Ravens put up over 100 yards rushing on us but we completely stuffed them when the game was close) and then the disaster against the Jets which highlighted a few problems but also was somewhat freaky in how it came about. 

Basically, this D is looking similar to Denver's D (high praise indeed): a lockdown secondary and a fierce pass rush that combined can stifle opponents. The best way to attack a fierce pass rush has always been to run right at it, I expect a lot of teams to start doing just that. This week against Gurley and the Rams will certainly put our Run D to the test.

They are not quite there yet. They struggle against the run, if they get more disciplined and keep their gap assignments they can do it. Our secondary is lights out the best in the league.
