Per Khan (via Ryan O), no coaching change

Means nothing. Over the years, before a HC is fired mid season, he gets the no change or we are confident in him speech. When they get blown out again next week, he will be fired. This is par for the course.

Some articles on Facebook if anyone can access the trending articles about Gus on there. Even saw a post towards the bottom of some guy that sells houses and said if someone can let him know as soon as possible when Gus is fired so he can try and sell his house for him. Lol. This is par for the course. Though I have seen things play out the way you have mentioned, the only possible reason I can think of that Shad Khan and Dave Caldwell might decide to wait until after the game in Kansas City to make a HC change instead of now is they want to give the interim HC a better chance at getting off to a good start. Winning in KC is difficult under norm circumstances, let alone with the direction the Jaguars have been going in of late. Having said all of this, from my perspective, it would make more sense to make the change today. This way, the interim HC would have an extra weekend to get his plans in place and it would probably limit the damage of the players being in the atmosphere that currently exists that's resulting in losing caliber play individually and collectively.
@HaysCarlyon Looks like we can rule out a change of heart by Khan. #Jaguars announce Gus conference call at 1:30 today.

Maybe Gus is gonna resign....fall on his sword.

I'd love to see Gus walk out of the locker room like Coach Kilmer in Varsity Blues....and no one follows him

IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Even Oesher can't (and isn't even trying) to spin this.
Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I don't see much good from it due to the games coming up. We are going to get killed. He gets one game before going to Detroit and Buffalo. Then they come back for the Broncos and Vikings. It will get really ugly. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:That is an excellent point. I don't see much good from it due to the games coming up. We are going to get killed. He gets one game before going to Detroit and Buffalo. Then they come back for the Broncos and Vikings. It will get really ugly. Thanks. Though every NFL game presents a set of unique challenges, playing in Kansas City against this particular Chiefs team seems like one of the most difficult tasks for any team in the NFL. In terms of outdoor stadiums, Arrowhead probably ranks in the top 2, along with the stadium in Seattle, in crowd noise. Right now, it's hard to imagine the Jaguars in their current form getting back on track in Kansas City. Yet, I think if the team did make a coaching change, I think positive building blocks for the Jaguars can occur in KC even if the outcome of the game doesn't go the way the team hopes. Right now, it feels like the Jaguars are in a situation in which most players aren't progressing. The team is probably closer to being a bunch of individual players than having players being on cohesive units. Quote:That is an excellent point. It will get really ugly. The thing is, at this point, those games are going to be losses regardless. We can't score vs. Bears, Raiders, and Titans. There's no way we move the ball vs. Brocons/Vikings. Houston historically has given us a tough time defensively and Detroit/Buffalo have been playing better lately too. We can't be thinking wins and losses right now. What is more important is that we do not see a game like what we saw yesterday in which we were completely unprepared, undisciplined, and just appeared overwhelmed.
Quote:Maybe they'll fire Olsen like Buffalo did Roman? Rex Ryan fired him, not Terry Pegula.
I think it would be absolutely hilarious if the OC gets canned and Gus keeps his job. You just can't make this stuff up.

I agree with you that the bigger picture for the Jaguars at this point in time is the way the team played even more so than the outcome of the last couple of games. Especially, last night. One of the worst things that could happen to the Jaguars franchise is if the young talented players are consumed by a losing football culture, including from a technique standpoint. The longer things remain status quo in a meaningful way, the more difficult it will be to undo the damage. |
