The problem with Caldwell was he had this vision and cut anyone that didn't fit hos scheme that was years away from coming into focus. He bet big he could rebuild the roster from scratch to play this scheme and created more holes in an already awful roster. He than proceeded to miss on key positions.


You miss on QB, Lt and coach you lose.

Rashad Jennings, LB Brandon Marshall, and Daryl Smith are all starters on other teams that Dave elected to let go of when he walked in the door. He let go of others who could have contributed in 2013 or 2014 or 2015 but are out if the league today, like Terrance Knighton and Eugene Monroe.

I'll copy and paste my response to you from the other thread:

Monroe is out of the league now. He wasn't in the teams future plans and obviously wasn't worth the 30 million dollar contract he signed in Baltimore. What good would it have done to hold onto him?


We cut a bunch of scrubs in our secondary who are all out of the league now. Again, what would it have done to hold onto bottom of the roster guys?

Did he really miss on Bortles or has the coaching staff failed to properly coach and develop him? He was pretty damn good last year and fell off a cliff this year. That's not normal Eric. That points the finger directly at the coaching staff on why we have the mess we're looking at.


Now an argument can be made that he failed on hiring the wrong coach. That's a point I'll happily concede. But normally that's not grounds for termination. Usually a GM will be given a chance to correct that mistake albeit placed on a short leash. If he's fired it'll be for that reason, not because the team lacks talent.

Cause it take years to get back to square one. Caldwell was arrogant enough to think he could deplete this roster to bush league and build it in his image in four years.


Hopefully the next GM retains what little talent we have and upgrades the roster as he builds.

This team, at this moment, reflects the coach.

 

This team are losers.

 

They are not talented at all.

 

With that said, a proper Head Coach can probably make them look like a play off contender.

 

But right now they are all trash.  All of them.

Aside from Brandon Marshall, there aren't many players that were on our team in 2011 that are even starters.  I'd be curious to see how many are even playing.  Gene didn't have any talent on our team, you can't blame Caldwell for blowing up our roster.

Bill Cowher was telling us the team is playing with no heart, and Gus should have left at halftime.  ITS BAD

Lowery and Landry had mediocre coaching with a decent defensive scheme.

 

Gipson was all pro under another head coach.  Let that sink in.

 

Other than that, you're right.

 

I'm not defending any player here except for Hurns, Myers, and that new punter that I have failed to remember his name.

 

Other than that.  This entire team sucks.  And they will continue to suck because they are soft and are not held accountable.  

 

The talent sucks.  But the talent was drafted and picked up on FA as real talent.  The coaching is wasting the talent.

Sorry when the roster is built and we are getting whipped on both lines can't muster 100 yards of offense in a half and can't sniff .500 in four years it's more than bad coaching.

Someone did a review of that roster not too long ago. The majority of that roster is out of the league.


And that is what Eric is mad about.
