If this team was interested in Teddy, they would have signed him as a free agent in March.

They obviously didn't sign him and nothing else needs to be said.

You could say the same about the Saints, though, and they just coughed up a three for him.

1) the Jaguars don't see Bortles as the liability so many of his haters do; and/or

2)  The QBs available were not worth the asking price to give Bortles competition.

Either way, he's our QB, and I am rooting like hell for him to succeed.

So you have to hate him to think he is a liability? Good lord you're one of those people huh? Time to put you on ignore. Thanks for exposing yourself!  Banana

Oh... you're one of THOSE people...
thanks for exposing YOURSELF...
but I won't block you... cuz I like to laugh at fools.

The Saints got Savaged in the preseason and realize that Brees isn't going to play much longer. They're going all in now and TB will make a nice bridge over the troubled waters of the post-Brees years while their next 1st rounder develops. Probably made out better by letting the Jets set the price for Bridgewater too instead of being in a bidding war, though that probably wasn't even a thought back in the spring.

$6 mil is not bad for a backup QB legitmately capable of starting.

Without coming to a long term deal though, you're paying 6 mil and a 3rd round draft pick for a one year rental backup QB.
If they don't extend him during the season, he could hit free agency and sign anywhere and the Saints are out the draft pick....

Seems silly to me for a team with no immediate need for such a back up. I could see if Brees was dinged up or something...
The Bucs really seemed like the best spot imo. Winston out 3 games (at least) plus a future that is unknown...

I'm proud of Bortles as our starting QB. He faced a world of criticism going into last season and proved everyone wrong. He didn't win us the Super Bowl so there's still plenty of hate on this guy but he continues to just go out and do his thing and fans of this team for the most part are just fine with that. Unless you're Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers then the jury will always be out. Take the checkdowns and let the backs make plays. He seems to be doing a better job of that and not trying to do too much.
No pain, no gain.
