You can't be shocked can you? That's the media landscape now. No company feels they can survive by appealing to all of the people. They target an audience and work to keep that share of the market.

The "regular" network newscasts (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) will tell you they are "fair and balanced", but on cable it's very demographically targeted. Why do you think you see all those catheter ads? Only old people watch the news apparently. Then all that matters is if you're blue or red.

I'll give you that. A smartphone with internet access is a necessity, but unlimited data is not.

Not to mention, I assume a percentage of the 800,000 employees without a paycheck are financing the latest and greatest cell phones, which are being added to their bills.

My point is, everyone can cut some fat in their budget and refusing not too isn't an excuse for a "living paycheck to paycheck" pity party.
