A decent synopsis of his traits, but you're missing a few important details of his personality.  Some would say, perhaps, the most important.

And that's all I'm going to say about that.

His love of the teal flake helmets?

What makes this move far more tragic is that it led to the team promoting Gene Smith to general manager, one of the single worst mistakes in NFL history. Gene Smith's drafts kept setting us more back every season. In retrospect, he destroyed the franchise.

Gah....I STILL remember some of the picks Gene made that left me wondering WHAT the hell he was thinking: Rod Issac(same draft Chris Harris went UDFA in), Scotty McGee, Jeris Pendleton, Larry Hart....ugh.  Not to mention the overreaches: Alualu, taking a PUNTER in the 3rd, the small school shockers.  4 years of purgatory.

Hey, if me missing the joke gives you a little bit of amusement it's good for both of us, right?
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

some might point to the fact that he never seemed to have a hopeful opinion about any of the jaguars players or coaches, but I mean we're talkin the years 2008 to 2013... Not like the dude was wrong, in hindsight. But he might not have been actually a fan of the team.

Wrote: Where's The Mad Dog when we need him?  I remember him clamoring for the Jags to draft Calais with their 1st round #26 pick when he came out of The U.   Most, if not all of us, thought there were too many question marks surrounding his motivation (or lack thereof).

Calais was selected in Round 2 with the 50th pick of the draft.  For the record, the Jags ended up trading their #26 pick and two 2nd round picks to move up to #8 for Derrick Harvey and then traded up in the 2nd round to pick #54 to select Quentin Groves with the pick #54.

Wow .... if we had just taken Calais with the #26 pick and kept both 2nd round picks life would have been a little different here in Jacksonville.

He also said passing on Quentin Moses in the 3rd round prior to this would be the franchises biggest mistake since passing on Roethlisberger.

Also in hindsight, Calais never topped 10 sacks before leaving Arizona... he's been absolutely bannanas since joining and i'm thrilled to have him but lets not pretend like his career trajectory would've been the same if he'd been drafted here. If he was around the dysfunction of this team in his early years he'd have walked at the first opportunity.

Also consider that every single guy on TMD's mock draft not named Calais Campbell was a bust or flamed out. I remember him riding his high horse about Steve Slaton after his rookie year, and then being silent when the guy failed to top 500 yards and 3 TD's in any given year for the remainder of his career.

TMD was proof that if you throw enough crap at a wall SOMETHING will stick.
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

I still wonder about passing on Will Grier for Quincy Williams, but I get it was because of Telvin.

Maybe.  Maybe not.  We don't really know for sure.

It's possible they just didn't think much of Will Grier, or they really really like Quincy Williams whether or not Telvin is going to play this year.

TMD = The Mad Dog.

Nope. Doesn't ring a bell.

You know who I miss though? Bjorn. Him and World's Greatest. Now those guys could post!
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Never saw World's Greatest, heard he was an amazing troll.  Well, that's what Bjorn said, anyway.  And yes, I miss Bjorn's writing.

Others, in no particular order:  It's Meier Time, Minorcan, Rachel in Teal, Utopia/Dakota (RIP, Paul), Erasergirl, Omaha, Su Heroe, the Chief, and Shag.  I'm trying to roll with the changes, and there's some clever kids around here, but I miss the golden era of Bjorn.  And hadn't seen your boy Gabe around, either...

Yeah, it does. Was Gabe the guy that went off to open a brewery somewhere? If so, was he successful?

Yeah, Gabe is busy here in TLH. I met him at a beerfest type thing, he makes tasty, tasty beverages.
