Penalties

#21

Quote:That was a very strange call.   Robinson gets up and spins the ball on the ground like a lot of WRs do, but in his case, for some reason, it's taunting.   He wasn't tossing the ball at an opposing player.  He wasn't even looking at an opposing player.

I don't get that one.
You act like it is the first Jags game you've watched!

How do you think the Browns feel?

Terrible obviously, but that play had nothing to do with penalties.

It had something to do with bad calls by the refs.  What do you think a lot of these penalties are?

The Jaguars commit a lot of penalties. Some of them could have been ignored by the refs, some of them could have been incorrect by the refs, and some of them were certainly violations. It's frustrating, but when we get calls for leverage, hands to the face, lining up in the neutral zone; those are due to poor coaching.

This thread is about penalties. I am not ignoring the fact that a bad call affected the outcome of Cleveland's game, just trying to stay on topic.

A lot of these penalties are mistakes by the Jaguars. Others against us this season have been bad calls by the officials.

Oh lawdy that is awful. Reminds me of the time the refs awarded, I think it was the Steelers, a first down against the Browns when they measured and you could clearly see the ball was behind the first down marker.

Hilarious, and just reading the ref's comments on why he marked it a first down is hilarious.

My thought while watching the game was that the team was committing too many penalties.  Granted some of them are questionable at best, but there were some that were flat out boneheaded.  Clean that aspect up and the team will probably win more games.

I cringed when I saw that and knew that the flag was coming.  I don't think that Robinson was really "taunting" a player, but he did it right next to the defender laying on the ground.  I know that he does that often (spinning the ball on the ground after a great catch), but in this case the proximity drew the flag.  The thing is, a "dumb penalty" like this negated a 1st down.

The taunting penalty was horrible.  Instead of a catch and 15-yard penalty on the Colts, we get a do-over 3rd and 2.  Lewis got hurt on the next play picking up the 2 yards.

The Jaguars are the 2nd most penalized team in the NFL a couple decimal places behind the Raiders, who are not coincidentally led by our former head coach.

The one that stands out to me is Cyprien's DPI. He knocked the receiver to the ground.

A couple years ago spinning or tossing the ball after a play became a 5-yard delay of game penalty. It is not supposed to be called taunting.

This should've been an obvious PI.

Yes! This no call was complete bull crap.
